CHILDREN MINISTRY TEAM MEMBERS INTRODUCTION: The children ministry team is a Christ-centered and child-focused ministry which helps local churches to catch the vision for the children s ministry and equip adults who will spiritually impact the children, the church and the community. This is accomplished by training children workers in leadership and teaching methods which will enable them to organize children s ministry and vocational bible schools that will effectively evangelize, disciple and holistically transform children through the Gospel of our lord Jesus Christ. In 2017, CMT worked in 24 areas within Nairobi and upcountry and has over 6 new areas desiring CMT to come and help their children ministry next year. After hearing and observing how God was working through trained children workers and Vacational bible school, pastors in Kalambya Kyusyani, Kericho, Kariobagi, Butere, Busia and Mathare have requested CMT to help them improve the children ministry in their churches, we have had opportunity of meeting these Pastors in regard to the need. The regional leaders and the churches in many areas have caught the vision for the children ministry and are reaching out to children in their communities. This year Chrisco church in Kibera and Free Pentecostal Fellowship of Kenya in Kawangware through their Pastors, they have included children ministry in their church program and budget. Our regional leaders in those areas are working with their pastors in developing strong children workers within their churches and that will reach out into the
community. The regional leader and the pastors in various areas have started conferences, children Rallies and other children related activities in their areas. Some of the areas have started adopting the young people in the ministry as way of mentoring them in the ministry. This year, CMT emphasized on the importance of discipleship to the children. When planning VBS, in all areas, we have encouraged our children mentors to have a plan of discipling the children, this is because we have realized that many kids who gave their life s to Christ didn t have a good discipleship plan in their areas. CMT ACTIVITIES: 1. CHILDREN WORKERS TRAININGS. 2. VACATIONAL BIBLE SCHOOL. 3. SCHOOL MINISTRY (SPIRITUAL NUTURING). 4. CLASS EIGHT CAMP. 5. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT. CHILDREN WORKERS TRAINING: The children workers trainings are made to equip teachers with skills and teaching methods to teach children and serve them effectively, CMT conducts 5 five levels of training.mainly level 1 which is introduction to children ministry, during this training the teachers are taken through GODS heart for children, how to prepare a evangelistic bible lesson, teaching memory verse and many more. Level 2 is more of discipleship and during this training we help our teachers to develop discipleship plan. Level 3 is geared to children ministry management, during this level of training we help our teachers to recruit more workers, develop leaders within their children church and community. mainly in the following area:- This year CMT conducted 6 children workers trainings
Children workers were held as follows. Venue level attendance Patanisho (Kayole) Two 12 Kee (Makueni) Three 17 Dandora Three 26 Ukunda (south coast) Three 23 Kalambya (Kitui) One 19 Chrisco (Kibera) Three 20 Total 117 Testimonies from the participants (CWT): This training has motivated me to invest more in the children ministry. It has encouraged me to go out and implement new ideas in our church towards the Sunday school program. It has uplifted me spiritually in considering the methods of training and facilitation method in children ministry. I will organize a general meeting for the Sunday school teachers and the church leadership so that we may plan and organize for bible lessons, group discussions and trips for the children so ass to motivate them and encourage them to come to Christ and be obedient to the lord Said Lebah Idalasia from New Life Pentecostal Revival Church Patanisho. This training has challenged me to disciple and recruiting more children workers. It has also reinforced my desire of creating quiet time and bible study. It has also motivated me to organizing Camps for our children the training has added me knowledge of being a good teacher and leader and more tips on teaching my children and bringing the unsaved to salvation..said Ruth Mutindi Kiio from Redeemed Gospel Church Ngiini Kee. The training has impacted my life as a Sunday School Superintendent because I have learned that I will have to pray before making appointments of new teachers and I will have to train those appointed before commissioning them to the service of the children ministry. My Sunday school children will be taught by people who are committed, dedicated and have a passion and love for the children and God s word. My bible club will be a place for discipling children and wining more souls to God s Kingdom..Said Janet Omolo from KAG Dandora.
Vacational bible school (VBS): This year CMT had 16 Vacational Bible School scheduled April and August but due to electioneering in the country we had to push some of them to the month of November and December. Seven (7) were done in the month of April and eight (8) were done in November and one (1) will be done in the month of December. As we visited the various VBSs this year, we noticed some young men and women who had attended our VBSs few years back today they are teaching the young ones in their areas. Our regional leaders have been training and working with them (young adults) to become children workers. All of them did a good Job teaching the Bible lessons and giving an invitation for children to accept Christ. All of our VBSs used teaching Materials from Child Evangelist Fellowship (CEF) and approved workmen are not ashamed (AWANA). These materials are easy to teach and follow and makes salvation easy to explain. The materials are not only equipped with Bible lesson but also with memory verses for each day and fun way to teach it. During the week the teachers gave the children an opportunity to accept Christ as their Savior. We praise the Lord for the big number of children who gave their life s to Christ.
