May God bless your generosity to Sacred Heart! My Dear Friends in Christ, Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him The gaze of the Master: how willing are we to let Jesus look at us and love us, despite all our inadequacies, fears, sins, foibles, and idiosyncrasies. The very nature of this weekend s Gospel passage requires us to look at the whole picture: yes, Jesus calls us to extraordinary acts of love, but at the same time, we are able to experience extraordinary love in communion with him. Jesus continues, "For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God," when speaking about salvation. We are reminded that it is God s love that will save us, rather than our own ability to get it right. We are called by Christ to live our lives in such a way that we are dependent on God: not dependent as if we don t do anything, but rather recognizing that God is the prime mover. In other words, our willingness to follow and cling to Jesus is the first step of discipleship. Then, and only then, having been looked at with love by Jesus can we begin to embrace our calling by Him. I hope to see you this coming Friday evening for the Pasta Dinner being sponsored by our Parish Council. All proceeds will support our efforts to replace our aging Christmas Trees!
