Matthew 16 THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS ASK FOR A SIGN IN THE SKY 1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting (Tested Jesus) desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. (The Bible tells us 11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him (Did not come to honor Jesus or respect Him.), seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him (Their attitude-dispute). 12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation. 13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side (Their attitude stunk; don t give your pearls to the swine.). 14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf (Mark did not mention the sign as in Matthew.). 15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. 16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread. 17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened? 18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember? 19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve. 20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven. 21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand? Mark 8:11-21) 2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. (The Bible tells us 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive (Symbolic of Mary; a young maiden.), and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel (God with us.). (Curds) 15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. 16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings. (Will cease to be kingdoms of Israel and Judah.) Isaiah 7:14-16) (The Bible tells us 54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. 55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass (Certain things you recognize.). 56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time (The teaching of the Law was plain that Christ was coming, the Messiah but they did not want to give up their power.)?
3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? (They should have known because they knew the prophets.) 4 A wicked and adulterous generation (Following our own ideas and consepts.) seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas (Three days and three nights.) And he left them, and departed. JESUS WARNS AGAINST WRONG TEACHING 5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (The Bible tells us 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate (Through the Law of God.): for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat (The majority do this.): 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow (difficult) is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Lawlessness the Broadway- poison). Matthew 7:13-15) (The Bible tell us 1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Luke 12:1) (The Bible tells us 17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good (smooth)words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple (Because they have another spirit in them.) Romans 16:17-18) (The Bible tells us 2 Beware of dogs (Two types of people called dogs.), beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. Philippians 3:2) (The Bible tells us 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8) The Bible tells us 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 2 Peter 3:17) 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. 8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? 9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? (The Bible tells us 19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the
loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. (The nature of God, over above and beyond.) Matthew 14:19-20) 10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? (The Bible tells us 1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another (Why? Because they wanted to learn, hungry and thirsty in contrast to Chapter 11.), he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy (If you teach the Law of God; do it but don t add to it or take away from the Law of God-don t trust man and follow him; what is in the Law of God of Moses it is up to us. ) Luke 12:1) 12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine (Those that were not aware fell by the wayside.) of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. PETER SAYS JESUS IS THE MESSIAH 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? (The Bible tells us 27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! (Here His disciples that were with Him all the time and still didn t know who He was. It wasn t planted in there hearts yet.) 28And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils (demons), coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. 29 And, behold, they (demons) cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? 30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. 31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. Matthew 8:27-31) (The Bible tells us 18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? 19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. 20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God. (The anointed Messiah.) 21 And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; Luke 9:18-21)
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias (Elijah); and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. (The Bible tells us 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: Malachi 4:5) 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ (Messiah, anointed Son of the living God.), the Son of the living God. (The Bible tells us 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God. Matthew 14:33) (The Bible tells us 69 And we believe and are sure that. John 6:69) 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona (Son of Jonah.): for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (The Bible tells us 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: 17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Galatians 1:16-17) 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell (grave) shall not prevail against it (Death has no power over the church because of the resurrection.). (The Bible tells us 42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. John 1:42) (Verse 18: Will build my church (Israel) because they are scattered and the gates of hell shall not proof against it - No matter what people try to do to it.) 19 And I will give unto thee the keys (His Laws of God.) of the kingdom of heaven (Knowledge an open door.): and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (The Bible tells us 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:(Can t create a temple with different faiths are not of God.) 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation (dwelling place) of God through the Spirit (Capital S added by translators that believed in the trinity; a third person.). Ephesians 2:20-22) (The Bible tells us 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me (Not doing on His own; His Father sent Him.), even so send I you (He gave them His commission.). 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them (A spiritual breath.), and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost (Spirit) (Gave Him a part of Himself.): 23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins
ye retain, they are retained.) John 20:21-23) (Vs. 19 Keys, the authority they were to elevated to that position of authority all based on the Law of God.) 20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. (Why not; not the time yet.) JESUS PREDICTS HIS DEATH THE FIRST TIME 21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. (The Bible tells us 31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. 32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters (Society says they are mentally deranged; but not so there are Satan deranged.). 33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. 34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts (Like many people today get out of my life they want to do their own thing; they wanted Him to leave.). Matthew 9 1 And he entered into a ship (boat), and passed (crossed) over, and came into his own city. Matthew 8:31-9:1) (The Bible tells us 21 And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; 22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. 23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me (No such thing as come as you are; deny your impulses.). 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it (Be like Christ.): but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. 22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. 23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my
words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. Luke 9:21-27) 22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee (Wanted to change the Plan of God.). 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men (Thinking like a carnal minded man; saying this to anyone who stands in the way of Law of God and His plan.). 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross (Styros; Symbolizes the willingness to give one life to follow God to the end.), and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it (When one chooses to live of righteousness; the world will hate you; if put all our waking moment on Christ we will be saved.). 26 For what is a man profited (Paul), if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. (At the end the commandments.) 28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom (Spiritually speaking; but they didn t understand that He was coming in their day.). Luke 9:21-27) MEMORY VERSE From that time forth began Jesus to show unto His disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. JESUS WARNS AGAINST WRONG TEACHING THEN JESUS SAID UNTO THEM, TAKE HEED AND BEWARE OF THE PHARISEES AND OF THE SADDEUCCES. ENTER YE IN AT THE STRAIT GATE (through the Law of God) FOR WIDE IS THE GATE, AND BROAD IS THE WAY, THAT LEADETH TO DESTRUCTION, AND MANY THERE BE WHICH GO IN THERE AT: BECAUSE STRAIT IS THE GATE, AND NARROW IS THE WAY, WHICH LEADETH UNTO LIFE, AND FEW THERE E THAT FIND IT. BEWARE OF FALST PROPHETS, WHICH COME TO YOU IN SHEEP S CLOTHING, BUT INWARDLY THEY ARE REVENING WOLVES (lawlessness the broadway) NOW I BESEECH YOU, BRETHREN, MARK THEM WHICH CAUSE DIVISIONS AND OFFENCES CONTRARY TO THE DOCTRINE WHICH YE HAVE LEARNED; AND AVOID THEM. BEWARE LEST ANY MAN SPOIL THROUGH PHILOSOPHY AND VAIN DECEIT, AFTER THE TRADITION OF MEN, AND NOT AFTER CHRIST.
