Dear Ones, Easter is April Fool s day but we don t have to fool the kids because the ul mate joke is on Satan. We have no right to everlas ng life on our own. In 2018, Easter and April Fools are on the same day. Tell the kids to hunt for eggs you didn t hide. But Jesus took the place of humanity and then was raised to new life. Satan thought he had a great GOTCHA but he was fooled. The gi God gave for us may seem foolish. It wasn t foolish but it was painful for God. God died on the cross. In God s Continued on page 2...
Article Continued wisdom the cross was the power of love over hate, death and destruc on. The purpose of the fool in the king s court was to tell the truth. Only the fool could safely do it. Like the li le boy in the story, The Emperor s New Clothes the fool could blurt out what everyone was thinking. Like the King in that wise li le story, we o en fool ourselves into thinking we are smart, we have everything figured out, that we are most important. It s about me and what I think and not the good of the whole. These things take the place of God who is all in all. The fool however calls our bluff. With pointed finger Jesus shows us how foolish we are. That finger points to a cross the cross of love. Lent began on Valen ne s day with roses and chocolate hearts the symbol of love. Even though we think that the heart is the true sign of love, actually this year we have been taught the true sign of love is a cross. Peace, Pastor Willer A Note From Our Council President If I did construction work, I ve been told it is best to measure twice because you only get to cut once. As Trinity looks to the future we want to get it right. The Congregation Council has decided to enter into a detailed measuring project. The tool we are using is a book by Kennon Callahan called Twelve Keys to an Effective Church. The Congregation Council is currently reading sections of the book and are putting together presentations for a series of congregational mini-retreats beginning on April 29. We will learn each of the 12 Keys and think through how we can build on our strengths in each of the areas. Through this process we can determine what kind of ministry we are called to do. When we called Pastor Schwick we were excited for our future together as pastor and congregation but for reasons on both sides we were not suited for each other. We have a chance to vision our future AGAIN as we heal from the hurts of the past. Please put April 29 on your calendar I hope to see you all there. Put milk, cream cheese & butter into a 1-quart glass casserole. Heat uncovered in microwave oven 15-30 seconds on HIGH, or until cream cheese is softened; stir to blend. 2. Beat eggs, salt & pepper until blended. Add egg mixture & bacon to cheese mixture. Cook uncovered in Microwave 2 1/2 to 3 minutes on HIGH. or until eggs are almost set; stir after 2 minutes. 3. TLC Women s Group Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 13 th from 12-3 pm. Remember to bring your lunch and a drink. Last month we enjoyed playing a couple of valentine games including a few rounds of UNO. This month please bring scissors and a roll of scotch tape. We will be making a Lenten Journey paper chain to bring home for daily bible verse readings. Hope to see everyone for a fun afternoon of friendship and fellowship.
