Our Saviour s Lutheran Church Sharing God s Love with All! 25th Sunday After Pentecost November 11, 2018, 9:15 am Welcome - A warm welcome to all visitors and guests. We pray that God will bless your time among us with His Word and Holy Spirit. Young children are encouraged to be in worship and activity bags are available for their use. Please sign our guest book at the back of the church before you leave. We are so glad you joined us for worship today. Confession and Forgiveness. ELW Page 94 The assembly stands. All may make the sign of the cross, the sign that is marked at baptism, as the presiding minister begins. L: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. L: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. Silence is kept for reflection. Most merciful God, C: we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. The presiding minister announces God s forgiveness. L: In the mercy of almighty God, C: Amen. The service continues with gathering song.

Gathering Song As Saints of Old..(vs. 1-3)..ELW #695 As saints of old their firstfruits brought of orchard, flock, and field to God, the giver of all good, the source of bounteous yield; so we today firstfruits would bring, the wealth of this good land, of farm and market, shop and home, of mind and heart and hand. A world in need now summons us to labor, love, and give; to make our life an offering to God, that all may live. The church of Christ is calling us to make the dream come true: a world redeemed by Christ-like love; all life in Christ made new. In gratitude and humble trust we bring our best today to serve your cause and share your love with all along life's way. O God, who gave yourself to us in Jesus Christ your Son, teach us to give ourselves each day until life's work is done. L: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. Kyrie Page 147-48

L: In peace, let us pray to the Lord. C: Lord, have mercy. L: For the peace from above, and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord. C: Lord, have mercy. L: For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the church of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord. C: Lord, have mercy. L: For this holy house, and for all who offer here their worship and praise, let us pray to the Lord. C: Lord, have mercy. L: Help, save, comfort, and defend Prayer of the Day L: O God, you show forth your C: Amen. Senior Choir Anthem By Faith First Reading.........1 Kings 17:8-16 L: The Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Psalm.. Psalm 146 L: Hallelujah! Praise the Lord, O my soul! C: I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. L: Put not your trust in rulers, in mortals in whom there is no help. C: When they breathe their last, they return to earth, and in that day their thoughts perish. L: Happy are they who have the God of Jacob for their help, whose hope is in the Lord their God; C: who made heaven and earth, the seas, and all that is in them; who keeps promises forever;

L: who gives justice to those who are oppressed, and food to those who hunger. The Lord sets the captive free. C: The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. L: The Lord cares for the stranger; the Lord sustains the orphan and widow, but frustrates the way of the wicked. C: The Lord shall reign forever, your God, O Zion, throughout all generations. Hallelujah! Second Reading. Hebrews 9:24-28 L: The Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Gospel Acclamation (to be sung) ELW Page 151 C: Alleluia. Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Alleluia. L: The Holy Gospel according to Mark the 12th chapter. C: Glory to you, O Lord. Gospel Lesson..... Mark 12:38-44 L: The Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ. Sermon.... Pastor John Carrier Hymn of the Day.. Take My Life, That I May Be..(vs. 1-6).ELW #685 Take my life, that I may be consecrated, Lord, to thee; take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love; take my feet and let them be

swift and beautiful for thee. Take my voice and let me sing always, only, for my King; take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee. Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold; take my intellect and use ev'ry pow'r as thou shall choose. Take my will and make it thine, it shall be no longer mine. Take my heart, it is thine own, it shall be thy royal throne. Take my love; my Lord, I pour at thy feet its treasure store; take myself, and I will be ever, only, all for thee. The Apostles Creed ELW Page 105 I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers of Intercession (Each petition will end with P: Lord in your mercy ; please respond C: Hear our prayer. ) Sharing of the Peace Offering The Great Thanksgiving. ELW Page 152 P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give our thanks and praise. The minister continues with the preface for the day. Holy, Holy, Holy Lord... ELW Page 153 Holy, holy, holy Lord, Lord God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Eucharistic Prayer. ELW Page 153 P: For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world; grant us peace, grant us peace. Communion Hymn. Blessed Assurance..(vs. 1-3) ELW#638 Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior, all the day long: this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long. Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; angels descending bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior, all the day long: this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long. Perfect submission, all is at rest; I in my Savior am happy and blest, watching and waiting, looking above,

filled with his goodness, lost in his love. This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior, all the day long: this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long. Post Communion Prayer C: Amen. Blessing C: Amen. Sending Hymn I m So Glad Jesus Lifted Me (vs.1-3). ELW #860 I'm so glad Jesus lifted me. I'm so glad Jesus lifted me. I'm so glad Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah! Jesus lifted me. Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me. Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me. Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah! Jesus lifted me. When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me. When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me. When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah! Jesus lifted me. Dismissal L: Go in peace C: Thanks be to God. ************************************************************ Announcements Thank you to Pastor John Carrier for conducting the service today while Pastor Peter Jonas is on vacation.

The Christmas gift boxes are out in the narthex for collecting donations for Trempealeau County Health Care Center, New Horizons & Pajama Gramma. There is a wish list of gifts for TCHCC in the box. New Horizons can use personal items such as a comb & brush, soap, shampoo, deodorant, tooth brushes & paste for both adults & children. Small toys & stuffed animals are appreciated too. Financial donations are welcome also. Put them in the offering plate in an envelope marked for the cause you choose. These items are needed by November 30 th so we are starting the collections earlier this year. Thank you for your generosity for those less fortunate. Poinsettias - Members of Our Saviour s may purchase and bring poinsettia plants to the basement prior to the Christmas Eve Services with a tag stating who donated the plant and for whom the plant is in honor or memory of. Poinsettia plants can also be ordered for $10.00. Orders need to be placed by December 9 th for delivery by Christmas Eve. We are hoping that selling poinsettia plants will make it easier for members to participate in decorating the church and make funds available for music for the Praise Team. Orders can be taken to the church office or collected in the narthex. Noisy Offering for November and December will be designated for the Heifer Project. Money collected will go to underprivileged countries for providing farmers and families with various farm animals. October s Noisy offering of $400 is going to flood victims of southern Wisconsin. Thank you, for your contributions to these special projects!! The Worship and Music Team Grace Lutheran of Pleasantville has invited us to join them for a special Thanksgiving service on Wednesday, November 21 st at 6:30pm.
