CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 1 Near My God to Thee Adams, Sarah Flower (1846) Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee! E en though it be a cross that raiseth me, Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee. Refrain: Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee! Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down, Darkness be over me, my rest a stone. Yet in my dreams I d be nearer, my God to Thee. Refrain There let the way appear, steps unto Heav n; All that Thou sendest me, in mercy given; Angels to beckon me nearer, my God, to Thee. Refrain Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise, Out of my stony griefs Bethel I ll raise; So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee. Refrain Or, if on joyful wing cleaving the sky, Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I ll fly, Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee. Refrain
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 2 How great thou art by Carl Gustaf Boberg (1859-1940) Stuart K. Hine (1949) Translated to English. O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Chorus: Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art! Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art! How great Thou art! When through the woods, and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze. Chorus And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Chorus When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!" Chorus
CONGREGATIONAL HYMN 3 Now Thank We All Our God Martin Rinkart (1586-1649) Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices, who wondrous things hath done, in whom his world rejoices; who from our mother's arms hath blessed us on our way with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today. O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us, with ever-joyful hearts and blessèd peace to cheer us; and keep us in his grace, and guide us when perplexed, and free us from all ills in this world and the next. All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given, the Son, and Holy Ghost, supreme in highest heaven, the one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore; for thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.

And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. (Gen. 3:8 KJV) Our God speaks: He has a Voice. Voice is a sound organized or produced by the vibration or motion of the larynx (vocal folds) by passage of air. It is the modulation of the vocal cords that produces the sound, tone and pitch that is produced in our voice. The voice articulates the sound produced by the vocal cords to express Words we use to communicate. This unique feature or system that organizes and characterizes our vocal/speech system is a grand testimony to our Creator s ingenuity and insight to invent a system so characteristically unique and necessary. Imagine our World without our voices; there will be little or limited method of expression, right to speech or freedom of speech will be unnecessary or irrelevant, there will be gruel effort to communicate, etc. The weirdness of no-voice is simply unimaginable. Gaining insight to the inalienable and incorrigible grace to speech and expression through our Voices, it will be incongruent to imagine that the Creator who so insightfully and intelligently provided or equipped us with such a wondrous blessing as to have a Voice will be a muted being. A thought or notion as such will be a flagrant bewilderment. It is important to note and reverently assimilate the courageous grace of God veracity to speech and owning a Voice. It is cruel fatality to imagine that intelligent creatures as we (Humans)are would be created by a Creator less intelligent; who would not speak, reason or express himself as we do or as might be expected better than we since He made us. The notice here is God has a Voice and can be heard. Praise the Lord. The Bible accurately referenced as God s inspired and documented script, aptly and incessantly reference the Voice expression of our great God and His inherently desire and passion to communicate with us (Man) throughout history God speaks and we must know His Voice Consider what the Bible, Listen to the Message that God is sending your way, House of Israel. Listen most carefully: Don t take the godless nations as your models. Don t be impressed by their glamour and glitz, no matter how much they re impressed. The religion of these peoples is nothing but smoke. An idol is nothing but a tree chopped down, and then shaped by a woodsman s ax. They trim it with tinsel and balls, use hammer and nails to keep it upright. It s like a scarecrow in a cabbage patch can t talk! Dead wood that has to be carried can t walk! Don t be impressed by such stuff. It s useless for either good or evil. All this is nothing compared to you, O God. You re wondrously great, famously great. Who can fail to be impressed by you, King of the nations. It s your very nature to be worshiped! Look far and wide among the elite of the nations. The best they can come up with is nothing compared to you. Stupidly, they line them up a lineup of sticks, good for nothing but making smoke. Gilded with silver foil from Tarshish, covered with gold from Uphaz, Hung with violet and purple fabrics no matter how fancy the sticks, they re still sticks. (Jer. 5: 1-9 MSG). The Creator is a Alive. Beloved, God speaks, He talks and He desires to communicate with you and me. He desires that we know and hear His Voice. He wants to engage us in meaningful conversation. Bible said, And they heard the voice of the Lord God. Let us awake to knowing and hearing His Voice too. Pray for this encounter. Olusanya Adewusi
WEEKLY REVIEW There is life in the word of God. A restive soul is significant of a famished soul that needs the word of God and should be fed with it. Whenever we do not live by the word of God we introduce death into our situation. We should always make time to study and meditate on it and find the life that it produces. We must be willing to know the mind of God on every matter and find our life directions from His word. Effect of the word of God: (1) Good- Isaiah 55:2. (2) Fatness- Result Isaiah 55:2 (3) Life- Isaiah 55:3 How to buy the word of God Accept what God says-luke 5:6 When we forfeit our course for God s word we buy it. Devotion and time is the cost for buying the word of God. Beloved, let us not be weary or unwise to understand our need and requirement for the Word of God. Jesus said, It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God s mouth. (Matt. 4:4 MSG). Let us be awaken to this true need as we are aware of our need for daily bread as Man shall not live by that bread alone but by every Word of God does Man live; come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live God says. What is God saying to us (now)? Let s buy into it and live. Amen Sister Kachi Odumah The Word-Life
