Our Mission To transform people, creating disciples of Christ who are devoted to living in a biblically-functioning community. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything, (all circumstances), give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) In 1863, Abraham Lincoln established a date for the National Day of Thanksgiving. Each year on the fourth Thursday in November we are reminded to be thankful. But did you know that Thanksgiving is first and most importantly a command from the Bible? Ephesians 5:20 tells us: 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (NLT) Friends, so often we find it easy to be thankful for the big things in life. A good report from the doctor after a difficult illness or accident, a job, a new car, a house, etc... Did you ever notice that the big things that happen to us seem to push our "thankful button" more than the little things in life? When Paul advised believers to give thanks for ALL things that included the small, insignificant things also. What about the gentle smile of your companion or a friend that is often taken for granted? What about the very breath you automatically take every second of the day? As we get older, being thankful for the ability to get up and walk, (though it may be slower than before), should bring praises to GOD. As the fall foliage begins to brighten I am thankful for the beautiful colors the trees are displaying. As a hunter, I am thankful for the sunshine as it glistens across those leaves. Just sitting in the peacefulness of GOD's creation raises the thankfulness of my mind and heart. As we begin developing a spirit of thankfulness for everything our list of small things to be thankful for will grow into a much bigger list. When the true spirit of thankfulness becomes a living part of our life it will be hard to have a bad day. Try being thankful in all things - you'll like it and so will those around you. Remember the little things for they can make a big difference. May God Bless Pastor D

Our heart is to stir a renewed passion for Jesus or maybe a brand new passion for Jesus in the hearts of local believers. With that end in mind, we have prayerfully selected speakers for each main session who are sensitive to speaking to people s needs and have a high value for God s Word, and we believe the worship team will lead the way into refreshing freedom. Additionally, we have assembled a stellar team of local ministers and special Sunshine Caregiver News We will be collecting Christmas cards again for the shut-ins. We are asking the Sunday School children to make cards as the shut-ins like things from kids. If you child would like to make a craft for them, we will see that they get it. The shut-ins are listed below: Betty Hess Betty Buchanan Ann Saccol Marietta Lowry Thomas Davis Eva Reighard Phyllis Barr Rose Fregly We will need the cards by December 2. Thank you and God Bless Sunshine Caregivers 6

Good News from Outreach: 7 The Outreach committee wants to thank Diane Gobbel for her willingness to share stories of our mission work during the service on September 23, 2018. She spoke so passionately about our work with Helping Hands and all of the other activities we have been involved with over the past few years. It is an honor to work with such a dedicated bunch of people who want to share the love of Jesus with others. Our Silent Auction was a success! We were able to raise a little over $1200 for the Bible2School program. A special thank you goes to all who donated items by taking the time to create hand-made items, bake, or purchase an item. All items were truly appreciated and made the auction more special for all. The sale of our Boscovs Shopping Passes brought in $660 for the Outreach committee. Special thanks goes to Tom and Tammy for manning our table. All visits and passes purchased from church members were greatly appreciated! We recently purchased an above the range microwave oven (with the help of Tom Stewart) for Helping Hands Rescue Mission and also plan to purchase Christmas stockings and fill them for all of our friends at HH. They are close to full capacity (60 beds)! Several of us went out for a visit on Friday, October 5 th. Outreach treated the residents to pizza, soda, chips, and brownies. Pizza was a requested item by some of the residents from a previous visit as it is not something served to them at meal time. The residents and staff were truly appreciative of our visit and I can tell you that serving 60+ hungry people is a little challenging (and that s not including the food preparation) What hard work it would be to serve that many people three meals a day, seven days a week, for 365 days per year without end. Another idea we will be pursuing is to make more tie blankets. We have decided to make blankets in the social hall on Saturday, November 10 th starting at 1:00 p.m. (You can support Outreach with blanket making followed by support for the Youth with a Take-out spaghetti dinner!) What a great feeling to go and visit at Helping Hands and see the blankets we made on their beds. Since they have an influx of people residing there, some do not currently have a blanket. Our goal is for all residents to have one. Outreach is currently sponsoring a t-shirt sale. We have extended the due date to Sunday, November 18 th. Please take an order form from the back of the church. Payment is due at the time of ordering to any Outreach committee member. Thank you again for all of your support in our endeavors!
