A PERSONAL PRAYER GUIDE

Dear Church, This is a transcendental week for the church and our families. It is very important that the Lord hears our desperate cry. Let's review the story of Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46-52: Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me! So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you. And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus answered and said to him, What do you want Me to do for you? The blind man said to Him, Rabboni, that I may receive my sight. Then Jesus said to him, Go your way; your faith has made you well. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road. Bartimaeus was heard by God because: 1) he had the right attitude, 2) he went to the right person, and 3) he had a clear request to bring before God (may God return his sight). This is why it is important to know why we cry out this week. What prayer do you want God to answer? Be as specific with God as Bartimaeus was. We encourage you to join us in this time of prayer and fasting. It is a voluntary and personal time between you and the Lord, but in the company of others who have the same heart. Use the following guide with suggested prayer lists each day during this week. May God listen and answer our prayers. 2 The pastors

What petitions am I fervently praying and crying out for this week? My prayer partners are: I believe that the only one that can answer my prayers is God, therefore I am crying out for His mighty hand to move and guide my life according to His will and purpose for me. Signature: Date: 3

Psalms 5:2 Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Psalms 34:15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. Psalms 142:6 Attend to my cry,for I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I. Matthew 15:22-28 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed. But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, Send her away, for she cries out after us. But He answered and said, I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, Lord, help me! But He answered and said, It is not good to take the children s bread and throw it to the little dogs. And she said, Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters table. Then Jesus answered and said to her, O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire. And her daughter was healed from that very hour. 4

Matthew 20:29-34 Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David! Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David! So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, What do you want Me to do for you? They said to Him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him. Mark 1:40-41 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, If You are willing, You can make me clean. Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, I am willing; be cleansed. 5

1 Samuel 1:6-11 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb. So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.then Elkanah her husband said to her, Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons? So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle[a] of the Lord. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head. 2 Chronicles 20:2-3 Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar (which is En Gedi). And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. Ezra 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. 6

Psalms 69:10-17 When I wept and chastened my soul with fasting, That became my reproach. 11 I also made sackcloth my garment; I became a byword to them. 12 Those who sit in the gate speak against me, And I am the song of the drunkards. 13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, Hear me in the truth of Your salvation. 14 Deliver me out of the mire, And let me not sink; Let me be delivered from those who hate me, And out of the deep waters. 15 Let not the floodwater overflow me, Nor let the deep swallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth on me. 16 Hear me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good; Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies. 17 And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in trouble; Hear me speedily. Isaiah 58:5-12 Is it a fast that I have chosen, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the Lord? Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, 7

And that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, Here I am. If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. Daniel 9:2-3 In the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 8

Pray for: Hunger and thirst for the Word. A desire to be an active part of the church life and meetings. A fervent prayer life. Discipline and consistency in my relationship with the Lord. A desire to share with others what God teaches us. A desire to worship and praise God. A desire to serve others. Verses Psalm 84:2 My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Mark 12:30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. Luke 24:32 And they said to one another, Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us? Colossians 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 9

1. Pray for our families: For love and unity within their members. Passion for God in the home. For God s provision for each family. For an atmosphere of love, acceptance & forgiveness in each family. For a good spiritual parental example to the children. 2. Pray for our marriages: For unity between husbands and wives. Fervor for God. For mutual respect and love between spouses. For reconciliation and restoration for conflicted couples. For love, tenderness and forgiveness in each couple. 3. Pray for our children and grandchildren: For submission and respect toward parents. For repentance from rebellion and disobedience. For them to have a heart for God. For the return of the prodigal to their homes. For the return of the spiritual prodigals to the church. For an unconditional love of parents towards their children. For reconciliation between the parents and children. For future friends and spouses. 10

Verses Psalm 78:5-8 For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children; That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments; And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God. Ephesians 5:22-6:4 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes 11

and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Pray : That God helps us forgive ourselves and forgive others. That we see ourselves as God The Father sees us: as His children, loved and forgiven by the blood of Christ. That God heals the wounds of our souls. That we understand the importance of confession so that we can put it into practice in our lives. That God reveals to us the lies we have believed and changes them for truth in His Word. That we seek help when we need it. For God to heal any physical illness (pray specifically if you have any illness). For the healing of friends, family or any brother/sister at church (pray specifically with the name of the person and illness). 12

Verses and Promises Psalms 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. James 5:13-18 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 13

1. Pray for the salvation of (pray by name): Spouses. Sons/Daughters. Parents and other family members. Friends. Neighbors and co-workers. The community around the church building. 2. Pray for: The Visitation/Evangelism ministry (V.A.M.O.S.). For an evangelistic and missionary awakening in our church. For determination and initiative to share the Gospel. That God would give us compassion for the lost souls. 3. Pray for The Great Commission Churches (GCC) and the ministries and missionaries we support all over the world: United States churches and missionaries in Columbus and Tallahassee. Churches and missionaries in Cuba, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Bolivia. Churches and missionaries in Spain, Germany, Israel, India and Nepal. That God would prosper His work in these places and that the Gospel be preached with boldness. 14

Verses Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,[a] for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Romans 15:20 And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man s foundation, Ephesians 6:18-20 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 15

Pray for: A marked increase in our fervor of God. A revival for prayer and fasting. More pastors and leaders. Complete unity in faith, doctrine and practice. Fervent love between brothers. The church ministries. Growth in small groups. Our mission trips. Planting a church/mission in our city. Verses Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Luke10:2 Then He said to them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Romans 12:11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 16

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1 Timothy 3:15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins. 17

Pray for: A spiritual revival and repentance. The salvation of all our governing authorities. Wisdom for our authorities in all their decision making. Protection, salvation and wisdom of all who serve and protect us (police officers, firefighters, soldiers, etc.). 2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Romans 13:4-5 For he is God s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience sake. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 18
