St. Ann s Parish 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time August 26, 2018 August is usually a quiet time around the church with many people being away. But this August is very different. This week we have had a whirlwind of activity going on. To quote a famous song, the joint is jumpin! We have had the air conditioner installers finishing up the final touches on the church units. They then proceeded immediately to install the new units in the school gymnasium. We have had loads of people working on the former convent, turning it into our Pre-K 3 program. We ve had masons, painters, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, you name it working frantically on the building to get it ready for the opening of school in a few weeks. Stone masons have been repairing the bricks in the chimneys on the convent and the school. The solar panels have been completely installed on the school roof and we are waiting for them to be up and running. New stairs into the main entrance of the old convent are installed. And there is still more work to do! Thankfully, it seems to be already paying off. When word got out that we are beginning a Pre-K 3 program here at St. Ann s, the phone at the school began to ring with requests. Our Pre-K 4 program is already full, and we are working on a waiting list there. Our enrollment is slightly up for the other grades, so all in all, St. Ann s School is solid. We have new Prometheus multimedia boards in most classrooms and new air conditioning in the cafeteria. In time we will be adding a playground for the little ones on the side of the school by Ambrose Place. Our Principal, Mr. Michael Vicario, and our school secretary, Mrs. Lisa Iannitti, have been hard at work all summer helping me continue to improve the physical and academic structure of St. Ann s School. If you know someone who would benefit from a quality Catholic education in a warm, family-style school at a reasonable cost, tell them to call St. Ann s School (914-965-4333.) We serve grades Pre K 3 through 8. Contemplative Prayer Retreat September 24 th - 27 th Marianist Family Retreat Center located in Cape May Point, NJ 08212 (609) 881-3829.
