St. Ann s Parish 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time September 16, 2018 Next Saturday, St. Ann s will be holding our annual parish picnic on the grounds of St. Joseph s Seminary. If you have been in attendance at the picnic in the past you know what a wonderful day it has always been. It s an ideal opportunity to get to meet other members of your parish family that we normally don t meet if we attend different Masses from them each weekend. We have activities for the children and music as well as good food prepared for us by the Fr. DiFalco Council Knights of Columbus. You will notice that we re adding even more activities this year, such as karaoke and a best dessert judging contest. In addition, a very popular element of our picnic has been St. Ann s Family Feud. This is a softball game between St. Ann s teens and St. Ann s adults. The teens won the first two years, but last year the adults scored their fourth victory in a row to take a commanding 5-2 lead! Will the teens close the gap this year? Come on out and see! All teens and adults are welcome to play. Just show up with a glove if you have one. No glove? Don t worry! We ll share with those who have them! The main and final event of our picnic is the drawing of the Summer 50/50 raffle. One year, the winner received $9,850! We re doing well so far, and I hope we can exceed that total this year. Won t it be great if the winner is on hand at the picnic to win??? We will also have a smaller raffle of gift baskets. It is impossible to choose a weekend when no one has any other commitments for our picnic. The fall is a very busy time. A few people have mentioned to me that our picnic coincides with the McLean Avenue street fair. While I m sure that fair is a great time, I told them that surely no one from St. Ann s would prefer to go to a street fair in another part of town rather than join with their St. Ann s Parish Family!!! You won t have more fun there, I can assure you! So come on out and celebrate St. Ann s with your family. You ll be glad you did! St. Ann s Bereavement Support Group St. Ann s Parish offers a grief support process that gives participants an opportunity to share their feelings in a safe and understanding environment. Our facilitators are certified in bereavement ministry by the Archdiocese of New York. Meetings will be held every Tuesday from Sept. 25 th thru Oct. 30 th at 7:30pm in the Chapel. If you or someone you know would benefit from participating in our program, please call the office to register at 914-965 1555. New Altar Server Signups Have you ever wanted to be an altar server? Have you thought about it but are not quite sure? Well, here s a way to find out and/or to sign up. If you are a girl or boy in 5th through 12th grades and are interested in signing up to become one, you are invited to an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 18 th at 7:00PM in the Church. One of your parents is requested to attend with you. If you have any questions, call Fr. Carrozza at the Rectory. OPENING OF THE 2019 MASS BOOK The 2019 Mass Book will open on the weekend of Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October 14th from 9:00AM - 12PM in Fr. Anthony Hall. In order to make sure that everyone has a fair opportunity to select Masses on their desired dates, we are restricting parishioner s to FOUR MASSES EACH on the first weekend. Additional Mass requests may be made after the first weekend is completed. The price for an Announced Mass is $15.00, and a Unannounced Mass is $10.00. Page 7 482
