ASSOCIATION OF MARY, QUEEN OF ALL HEARTS PENTECOST NOVENA

PENTECOST NOVENA INVOCATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT V. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful R. And enkindle in them the fire of your love. V. Lord, send forth your Spirit. R. And you will renew the face of the earth. V. O God, who instructs the hearts of your faithful with the light of your Holy Spirit, make us responsive to his inspirations so that we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolations. Through Christ our Lord. R. Amen. PRAYER IN UNION WITH OUR LADY V. To prepare for the coming of the Holy Spirit the first disciples devoted themselves with one accord to prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Let us, therefore, unite ourselves to our Blessed Lady as we prepare ourselves for the great feast of Pentecost. V. Let us pray: Lord our God, As the Blessed Virgin was at prayer with the Apostles You poured out on her in abundance The gifts of the Holy Spirit; Grant through her intercession That we too, being filled with the same Spirit, May persevere with one mind in prayer And bring to the world around us 1

The Good News of salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. R. Amen. V. And now let us call out with St. Louis de Montfort directly to the Holy Virgin seeking the transformation of our hearts: All: O holy and faithful Virgin, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, Change my rebellious heart Into a heart humble and contrite. Give me a docile heart Truly faithful to his voice, So I may live the Gospel According to its counsels and its laws. THE HOLY ROSARY The Rosary begins directly with the Mysteries as the above invocations serve as the opening prayers. Immediately upon finishing the fifth Mystery of the Rosary the Magnificat is prayed in place of the usual concluding prayers. THE MAGNIFICAT OF OUR LADY All: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior; For he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: The Almighty has done great things for me, And holy is his name. 2

He has mercy on those who fear him In every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm. He has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones And has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things And the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel For he has remembered his promise of mercy, The promise he made to our fathers, To Abraham and his children for ever. V. Glory be to the Father R. As it was in the beginning V. O Mary, conceived without sin, R. Pray for us who have recourse to thee. PRAYER FOR THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT V. On the day of his Ascension, the Lord Jesus promised his disciples: BUT YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES UPON YOU, AND YOU WILL BE MY WITNESSES IN JERUSALEM, THROUGHOUT JUDEA AND SAMARIA, AND TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH. (ACTS 1:8) V. Knowing that promise of the Lord to his Church is certain and sure, let us now call to him with confidence as we look for a renewed outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. 3

All: O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven, didst promise to send the Holy Ghost to finish Thy work in the souls of Thy Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me, that He may perfect in my soul the work of Thy grace and Thy love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal, The Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Thy divine truth, The Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining Heaven, The Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with Thee, and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation, The Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints, The Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable, The Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God, and may dread in any way to displease Him. 4

Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Thy true disciples and animate me in all things with Thy Spirit. Amen. PRAYER FOR NOVENA INTENTION (A SPECIFIC GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT) V. Having called out in prayer for the fullness of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, let each of us now consider which of the seven gifts he most needs, and in silence let us prayerfully open our lives to be strengthened in this gift. Over the nine days of this Novena we will each continue to pray for the gift that we request on the first day. Silent prayer follows. VENI CREATOR V. Our Savior promised his Church that he would send the fullness of the Holy Spirit upon them when he said: AND [BEHOLD] I AM SENDING THE PROMISE OF MY FATHER UPON YOU; BUT STAY IN THE CITY UNTIL YOU ARE CLOTHED WITH POWER FROM ON HIGH. (LUKE 24:49) V. And so we call out in confidence for the Holy Spirit to come upon us. All: Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest, and in our souls take up Thy rest; come with Thy grace and heavenly aid to fill the hearts which Thou hast made. O Comforter, to Thee we cry, O heavenly gift of God Most High, O fount of life and fire of love, 5

and sweet anointing from above. Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts are known; Thou, finger of God's hand we own; Thou, promise of the Father, Thou Who dost the tongue with power imbue. Kindle our sense from above, and make our hearts o'erflow with love; with patience firm and virtue high the weakness of our flesh supply. Far from us drive the foe we dread, and grant us Thy peace instead; so shall we not, with Thee for guide, turn from the path of life aside. Oh, may Thy grace on us bestow the Father and the Son to know; and Thee, through endless times confessed, of both the eternal Spirit blest. Now to the Father and the Son, Who rose from death, be glory given, with Thou, O Holy Comforter, henceforth by all in earth and heaven. Amen. BLESSING AND DISMISSAL HYMN 6

THE ASSOCIATION OF MARY, QUEEN OF ALL HEARTS The Association of Mary, Queen of All Hearts, gathers together all of those members of the Body of Christ clergy, religious and laity who, having made their Act of Total Consecration, commit themselves to the practice of true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as taught by St. Louis de Montfort. We are a Catholic organization that is associated with the Company of Mary, the religious community founded by Fr. de Montfort, and we join with its members in striving to bring about the reign of Jesus Christ through Mary. Each day we embrace the Queenship of Our Lady over our own hearts by the renewal of our personal Act of Total Consecration so that this Consecration may be the heart of all of our thoughts, words and activities. We endeavor to give authentic witness, especially through personal example, to the transformative power of Fr. de Montfort s way of Consecration so that others might come to experience its life-giving fruit in their lives. For more information regarding the Association, visit us online at queenofallhearts.com or on Facebook at facebook.com/maryqueenofallhearts 2016 Montfort Publications montfortpublications.com
