Instead they are guideposts that point us in the direction of good living. Accordingly, good living requires loving God and loving one another. We should not follow God s laws out of fear of what might happen if we don t, but rather view them as a foundation for building relationships and trust with one another and with God. The Shema prayer of Orthodox Jews is based on the reading from Deuteronomy today, Hear, O Israel. Every morning people recite the prayer as a profession of their love for God and pledge their obedience to God throughout the day. They pass on their love of God to their children, from one generation to the next. CHURCH CONTRIBUTION UPDATE for St. Rose of Lima School Families The Parish Office has mailed the 2018 Contribution Statement to all families. Please take time to review your report to confirm that all donations have been applied to your account. Remember that the Pastor s Discretionary Discount for tuition is available to those Roman Catholic families who are registered members of St. Rose of Lima Church and approved by the Pastor. In addition to being registered, the families must also: q q q q Regularly participate in Sunday mass and Holy Days of Obligation at St. Rose Support the mission of the parish by giving fully of their time, talent, and treasure Families must have completed all service hours (PPP) by participating in the school carnival and other parish events Contribute a minimum total of $1,250 by utilizing the weekly parish envelopes or weekly online giving through My E- Offering throughout the year The Pastor will review and approve families eligible for the Pastor s Discretionary Discount in December. In order to be eligible for this discount in the 2019-2020 school year, documented weekly support of St. Rose must be evident in your account by December 31, 2018. JO MASS INTENTIONS The ritual of setting clocks back an hour this morning (or last night) may remind us of the value we place on time and how we use or lose it! The fast pace of living and instant connection to all that is happening around the world are constantly distracting us from our spiritual priorities. When do we set aside time to evaluate honestly our present relationship with God, ourselves and others? Now is the perfect time to deepen our personal commitment of faithful love and service as a disciple of Christ. Virtus at St. Rose of Lima Mark your calendars.
