Volume 8, Iss ue 12 Page 2 Being a Christian Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see. HOW TO LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE AT CHRISTMAS AND ALWAYS Work with joy. All of us here at Love And Compassion Ministries wish to thank you for your friendship, love, prayers and support. May we never forget why we celebrate this season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! God Bless you all! Pray with love. Dream from your heart. Share what you have. Live simply. Love deeply. Thank God always. Merry Christmas God Bless You All!

Volume 8, Iss ue 12 Page 3 Here are some simple ways to keep Christ the central focus of your life this Christmas season and all year long: Keeping Christ in Christmas means revealing daily the character of love that dwells in you, by allowing these traits to shine through your actions. Give God one very special gift just from you to Him: Let this gift be something personal, that no one else needs to know about, and let it be a sacrifice. David said in II Samuel 24 that he would not offer a sacrifice to God that cost him nothing. Maybe your gift to God will be to forgive someone you've needed to forgive for a long time. By doing this, you may discover a gift that you give back to yourself. Forgiveness is to set a prisoner free, and to realize the prisoner was you. Perhaps your gift will be to commit to spending more time with God daily. Or maybe there is something God has asked you to give up. Make this your most important gift of the season. Plan a project of good will this Christmas: Think about "adopting" a single mom. There are lots of people that are barely making ends meet and don t have money to buy gifts for their child. Do you have an elderly neighbor that is in need of home repairs or yard work? Find someone with a genuine need, involve your whole family and see how happy you can make someone this Christmas. Take a group Christmas caroling in a nursing home or a children's hospital: Incorporate Christmas caroling at a nursing home into your yearly staff Christmas party plans. Tour the facility while singing Christmas carols. Take pictures because you will want to reflect on the party for many years. Your hearts will be full of tenderness and it will be the best staff Christmas party you ve ever had. Give a surprise gift of service to each member of your family: Jesus taught us to serve by washing the disciple s feet. He also taught us that it is "more blessed to give than to receive," Acts 20:35. The idea of giving an unexpected gift of service to members of your family is to demonstrate Christ-like love and service. You might consider giving a back rub to your spouse, running an errand for your brother, or cleaning out a closet for your mother. Make it personal and meaningful and watch the blessings multiply. Set aside a time of family devotions on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning: Before opening the gifts, take a few minutes to gather together as a family in prayer and devotions. Read the Christmas story in Luke 1:5-56 through 2:1-20. Read a few other Bible verses and discuss as a family the true meaning of Christmas. Attend a Christmas Church service together with your family: If you are alone this Christmas or don't have family living near you, invite a friend or a neighbor to join you. Send Christmas cards that convey a spiritual message: This is an easy way to share your faith at Christmas time. If you've already bought the reindeer cards -- no problem! Just write a Bible verse and include a personal message with each card. Write a Christmas letter to a missionary or someone in ministry work: This idea is dear to my heart! For many years now I have received a special letter from a special person each Christmas. Opening the letter is always like opening a priceless gift on Christmas morning. Many missionaries are unable to travel home for the holidays, so it can be a very lonely time for them. Write a special Christmas letter to a missionary or someone working in ministry work. Thanking them for giving their life in service to the Lord is one of the best things you can do. Trust me, it will mean more than you can imagine! Remember It s OK To Say Merry Christmas.

Volume 8, Iss ue 12 Page 5 The Doll and the Rose I was walking around in a store. I saw a cashier hand this little boy his money back saying "I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll." Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ''Granny, are you sure I don't have enough money?'' The old lady replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.'' Then she asked him to stay there for five minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly. The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and asked him who he wished to give this doll to. "It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas. She was so sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her." I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus will bring it to her after all and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. "No, Santa Claus can't bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there." His eyes were so sad while saying this. "My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.'' My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: "I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall." Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me "I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won't forget me." "I love my mommy and I wish she didn t have to leave me but Daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister." Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. "What if we checked again, just in case you do have enough money?'' "OK" he said "I hope that I have enough." I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: "Thank you God for giving me enough money!" Then he looked at me and added "I asked yesterday before I slept for God to make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mommy can give it to my sister. He heard me!' "I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses." A few minutes later, the old lady came again and I left with my basket. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local newspaper article two days ago, which made mention of a drunk man in a truck who hit a car where there was one young lady and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-assisting machine because the young lady would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young lady had passed away. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that this little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him. Please be an angel this year

Volume 8, Iss ue 12 Page 6 Street Outreach Ministry... I met Dave and Frani Strever with Street Watch Ministry many years ago. They helped us countless times with delivering food to the most needy of this community and are still doing so. They began to help us with our Street Outreach Ministry Program along with providing many wonderful items of clothing, shoes, hygiene items and provided many Godly volunteers to help cook and serve. Many have come to the Lord through this ministry. Street Watch Ministries and Love And Compassion Ministries have had a great impact on this community by working together to reach the lost of this area. For the past year or so they have gained the confidence and ability to take this ministry to new heights with the desire to reflect Christ in all they do. So now Love And Compassion Ministries is pleased to announce that we are now turning this wonderful ministry over to the Street Watch Ministries family. This will allow Love And Compassion Ministries to focus on some things that our Lord has opened the door for us to do in the very near future. Street Watch will still serve a wonderful meal, give out clothing, shoes, hygiene items and preach the Word of God to the people on the streets. On Saturday December 7, 2013 they will be having a magnificent dinner of turkey, dressing and all the fixings. Adults will receive back packs and Bibles. The children will receive Christmas stockings and gifts. Come And Join Many Others At Clemente Park Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Ford Street 2:00 PM - Saturday December 7, 2013 And Receive a Blessing For God Call 239-574-1128 if you wish to join this Godly team, donate items or provide monetary support.

Volume 8, Iss ue 12 Page 7 Friends and Partners, May God bless you all during this holiday season with peace, love, and a brighter future. May we all reach out to someone and touch them in a way where they will feel the love and compassion from our Savior as The Holy Spirit ministers, directs, and guides us! My grandfather was a man of honor. He worked hard six days a week. He never made more than five hundred dollars in a year s time and never took government money. He and grandmother never had a hot water tank, shower, bathtub or many of the modern conveniences we enjoy every day yet they raised twelve children on what they did have. During many cold nights, the windows would ice up on the inside of the house. They had to cut and split wood to heat the house and cook. They drank from a cistern that had some of the worse water you have ever tasted. They raised cattle, mules, hogs, chickens and grew many a crop to eat and sell. Granddad paid for a two hundred acre farm by clearing other land at one dollar an acre. That meant cutting the trees down, cutting the timber up, pulling out the stumps or blowing them out of the ground with dynamite so that people could plant crops. This was very hard work with nothing but an ax, a team of mules and some explosives. All this hard work made him strong and yet very wise in many ways. He made what they needed, but was always willing to share what he had with less fortunate people. He cared about others and he was proud to be able to tell them many times how God saved his life. No matter how bad things got, Granddad never gave up. Many storms of life fell upon his shoulders and yet nothing broke his will to carry on, even when all looked doomed. He pressed on! My dad is the same way. He will be 94 in February. He is weak in body but strong in the Lord. I thank God for my family and what they were able to do in their life time. I know from experience how hard it is to not give up and throw in the towel. Ministry work is not for the faint of heart nor for the one that wants to get rich. Matter of fact, it is not for the ones that expect things to just fall into place. Ministry work is a twenty-four hour a day job, seven days a week. Ministry work takes a lot of faith, prayer, love and willingness to go anywhere, at any time, when God calls. Know also there is an unseen evil force that will do all it can to side track you and / or destroy you at the same time. I guess I have a lot of my father and grandfather in me, for I believe if you are going to do something, do it with all your heart, with total commitment or do nothing at all. I have discovered that you can always do more than you think you can. I am willing to sacrifice my life and all I own to reach the lost but I need your help! Together we can honor our Father in heaven and help the imprisoned, homeless, drug addicts, troubled youth and so many more. It is a choice. I have made my choice. I am pressing on. What are you going to do? I pray that together we will start using Love as an action. Please help us to reach the lost of this world with love and compassion. Let us not allow satan to steal the true meaning of Christmas from us. May we all view this Christmas in a new light as we let the Holy Spirit build within us and bubble over into others. Enjoy the season, Worship the Lord and give from your heart. May we use every day we have left on this earth to show God s love to others. Thanks and God Bless You All! In the Presence of our Lord, Ron Willis Ron Willis, President Love and Compassion Ministries, Inc.
