First of all there is no such thing as a typical day. Paul s statement in II Corinthians 11:28 points out one reason why. And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches (ESV). The different pathways of 51 church entities provide a lot of variety to the day. Then add that to Jeremiah s admonition, But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare (Jeremiah 29:7, ESV). This combination provides an endless combination of avenues to pursue everyday. Here s a sample of a recent day: provided care to a pastor during the minutes leading up to his wife s transfer to Heaven, then assisting in making contacts and making sure his pulpit was covered for a few weeks ahead; took part in a Child Abuse Awareness Month program put on by our One More Child Team and attended by several of our foster families in the area; met with our Seaport Director and was brought up to speed with that ministry including the details of a service that would result in 7 Philippine crewmen accepting Christ as Savior; helped a church develop a conversation that could lead to a church replant; and worked on resourcing some of our pastor peer groups for upcoming gatherings. This isn't a boastful listing but rather a brief sample of some of the ministry opportunities our association provides. This is part of an Acts 1:8 strategy to be global in spreading the good news of Christ. We sometimes forget that global includes our here. Without local missional agents, there would be no one available to go over there. It is a pleasure to serve as one of your missional agents; right beside you, another missional agent. In Christ, Troy

VOLUNTEER IN MISSIONS JENNIE LONDON Volunteer Mission Vision This month, it s ALL about Florida Baptist Disaster Relief Saturday, May 5, there will be a Regional Training at New Home Baptist Church, 405 E. Hampton Springs Avenue in Perry. Registration will begin in Perry at 8:30 A.M. EDT; cost will be $25 for each New Volunteer and $20 for each Returning Volunteer. In addition to Orientation for New Volunteers, there will be training in Mass Feeding, Clean Up & Recovery, Administration, Temporary Child care, Emergency Response Team (Security & Communications) and Spiritual Care. Shower Unit Training will also be available. Saturday, May 19 will be another Regional Training, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 800 E. Nine Mile Rd., Pensacola. Registration will begin at 8:30 A.M. CDT. Cost and training opportunities are the same as for Perry, with the exception that there will not be any Shower Unit Training. However, for the very first time, there will be some Vendors on site. Although we do not know how many, we do know that a chain saw company plans to have a display with representatives to answer questions, as well as the I Want Yellow.com online store for Disaster Relief Uniforms and other related items. This will be a great opportunity to see those items before you buy them. For both training events, you may go to http://flbaptist.org/disasterrelieftraining/ for more information, or you may contact me at 8507638258 or vim.nwca@juno.com. FLBDR Volunteers, please be sure your badge is still current. If it has expired, or will expire at the end of this year, please try to attend one of these trainings to update your badge. And, if you have not already done so, please go to the above website ASAP, to also update your background check. Both your Background Check and Badge must be updated every three years. And, please invite anyone who may be interested in joining FLBDR! Thank you. In HIS Service Jennie 8507638258 or vim.nwca@juno.com

April was Abuse Prevention Month, and we were so blessed to have the opportunity to join with our pastors and local foster families to plant Pinwheels for Prevention garden. Thank you so much to everyone who came to be a part of that. There are so many needs in our community and we continue to strive to meet the physical need for foster parents and supporting them with the material things they need. But there is no greater need than prayer for these families and children. A quote by Dr. Karyn Purvis says, Our children were harmed in relationship, and they will be healed in nurturing relationship. At the conference where that quote was shared, Psalm 91:15 was also shared. When he calls out to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor. Such a sweet reminder that God created us for relationship and a relationship with Him is where we find rescue and healing. Please pray for the children in our community who desperately need a relationship in their life that will demonstrate that healing and rescue. Please pray that those who God is calling to foster or mentor these children that He will equip them for the important calling in their life. Please pray for healing in our community where too many children do not have the family that God would desire for them to have. Please pray that awareness would move us all to action.
