Pastor s Page There are certain moments when congregations come together to consider and discuss important factors of mission and ministry. In the coming weeks, I and the Congregation Council ask you, as members of Good Shepherd, to commit to participating in some conversations that are vital to our mission. There are two primary conversations we need you to attend. On November 18, 2018 following the 10:30 a.m. worship service, we will have a Congregational Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to consider the Proposed 2019 Budget. A Budget is not just a spending plan, but a key support for all of the ministries we will enact in the coming year. Considering the Proposed Budget is not just about dollars and cents, but rather consideration of our missional priorities for the coming year. Please make time to attend this meeting. In November and December, we will host meetings to share important information with you regarding our mission beyond 2019. There will be two parts or sessions to these initial consideration/discussion meetings. As we have done in the past, we will have three meeting times for Session I and three meeting times for Session II you only need to attend one meeting for each Session. The dates and times are: SESSION I: Our Building, Financial Considerations, and Our History Meeting times (sign up for/attend one): Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 7 p.m. SESSION II: Options for Moving Forward Meeting times (sign up for/attend one): Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2019 at 7 p.m. It is extremely important that we have as many of Good Shepherd s members present for all of these meetings. We are called together into community by Christ our Lord, but Christ calls ALL of us to come together and share our gifts and abilities to carry out His mission. Please include these meetings in your schedule in the weeks to come. Thank you all for your commitment to our Lord! Pastor Susan Lynch

Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday, November 4th! Set your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night! Enjoy an extra hour of sleep! Altar Guild needs your help! We are in need of new members that want to be involved in an important, "behind the scenes" ministry preparing the altar for communion at the Sunday services and cleaning up. We have six groups within the Altar Guild that work together. Each team is assigned just two months out of the year so it is not a huge time commitment. Contact Cheri McMenamin for more information! cmcmena@gmail.com Congregational Meeting There is a Congregational Meeting scheduled for Sunday, November 18, 2018 following the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The meeting will begin at approximately 11:45 a.m. The primary purpose of the meeting is to consider and approve the 2019 Proposed Budget. All voting members (A voting member is a member who is Confirmed, Contributing, and Communing) should plan to attend. Community Pancake Breakfast Saturday, November 17, 8-10am This event is open to the public. Tell your friends and neighbors. Join us for pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, eggs/ omelets made to order, hash browns, dry beef gravy, baked goods, fruit, coffee, tea and juice. Work Day Saturday, November 17-9am Come out and participate in the Property Committee s monthly church work day! Have breakfast in Fellowship Hall then work it off! Contact Dave Dean for more info! Spoken Communion November 20, 2018 Spoken Communion At Freedom Village Do you, or someone you know, work or have difficulty getting to church Sundays? On the 3rd Tuesday of this month at 11:00 am a worship service with communion will be held in Fellowship Hall. Lunch and fellowship immediately following! Join us! Bring a friend!! November 29, 2018 On the 5th Thursday of this month at 2:00 pm Pastor Lynch will conduct a worship service with communion for residents of Freedom Village in the Great Room of The Gardens. If you are a resident, or know of someone who would enjoy attending, please join us!

Social Ministry Holiday Meal and Angel Tree We will again be offering complete holiday meals to members and community friends who are in need. This includes the Turkey, vegetables, mashed and sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, fruit cocktail, rolls, butter and pie. If your family needs a meal, please complete a registration sheet and turn it in to the church office or one of our committee members. There will be extra copies on the Welcome Center in the Narthex in addition to the copy that is attached to your newsletter. Thank you, Karen White, Heather Clark, Betsy Smaltz, Kim Campbell, Roberta McLaughlin Christmas Eve Worship Services We will have 2 worship services on Monday, December 24, 2018. 3:00 p.m. This Traditional Christmas service will include a Children s Sermon, Holy Communion, and Candle Lighting. 7:00 p.m. A formal, yet family friendly Christmas service will include music from the Choirs and Instrumental Ensembles, a Children s Sermon, Holy Communion, Candle Lighting and worship leadership from both youth and adults. Children s Christmas Pageant - 12/9/18 Please join the youth of LCGS as they present this year's Christmas Pageant "Chris-myth Busters" on Sunday, December 9th at the 10:30 service. This show is about Ethan's new adopted brother, Michael, who starts busting myths about Christmas to Ethan's friends. In the story, Michael learns that even though some facts about the very first Christmas might not be clear, the truth about why Jesus came is everywhere in the scripture. Please join us for this delightful pageant and invite your family and friends! SAVE THE DATE Breakfast with Santa!! December 15, 2018 Children and their families are invited to see Santa and enjoy breakfast, activities, and more 9:00 AM 10:30 AM.
