Our Vision Statement Our ministry exists to reach people, bringing them to a loving relationship with Jesus and membership in the Christian Community; helping them to grow in their faith, guiding them to serve in their gifted ministry, and honouring God with their lives. Welcome Visitors! There is a well equipped nursery available for your babies and young children located in the smaller building next door. There is a quiet room for nap times and for changing your little one, as well as kitchen facilities. Sunday School is provided for children age 3 - grade 5. Our educational materials are the CRC Faith Alive: Walk with Me Program. The children will be dismissed to Sunday School during the Worship Service. Children are encouraged to bring a small tithe for the collection. We have a well-stocked library with books and videos for all ages in the basement of the church hall. It is open during the fellowship time after the service. Coffee is on! Join us for a time of fellowship in the church basement directly after the service. We d love to meet you! Today, Sunday October 20, 2013 The offering is for the BUDGET Next Sunday the offering is for Home Missions

Church Announcements & Activities The Annual General Meeting of our church will be held Tuesday November 19, 2013 at 7pm. Coffee and Dessert will be served. Please mark your calendar for this evening. This meeting will plan and approve the spending budget for 2014. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES - are here! Council has decided that as a congregation, we would not be partaking in this initiative this year. Sometimes we can begin to feel financially stretched in too many directions. It is important to fulfill our commitments that we have already agreed on for this year, such as - Mission Emphasis Team Food Challenge to provide 2013 pounds of food to the Bread of Life, Peter Fish Banks, Naji and Anne, and to meet our Church Budget for this year. Having said that; if anyone would still like to do up an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox, you can pick one up in the foyer after church. You Asked For It! Tonight at 6:30pm, downstairs at church: Come join an hour long discussion on the Sunday morning message which arises from your questions. Come learn and help the rest of us learn. Oct 23 - Ladies Coffee Break Bible Study Join us on Wednesday morning for Coffee Break from 10-11 am for coffee, Bible study and fellowship. Limited child care is provided. Oct 24 - "Going Deeper" is an opportunity on Thursday mornings at 10:00am to dig a little deeper into the weekly sermon text. We gather to pray, to study and to open ourselves to God's transformational work. Please join us! YOUTH PARENT NIGHT Schedule Change: Please make a note on your youth schedules that Parent's Night has been moved from the 18th of October to the 25th of October. Shane will be in Michigan for study leave on October 18th, and would really like to be around for the Parent's Night, hence the change. Any questions can be directed at Shane or at YST.

FROM BETHESDA CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION: It is with great appreciation that we recognize Audrey Hoekstra s support of Bethesda s Ministry as church coordinator for 10 years! We appreciate her commitment and dedication to supporting people with disabilities. Thank you Audrey! Noon Organ Concerts: Trinity Anglican / Lutheran Church in Port Alberni is presenting a series of noon-hour organ concerts in the month of October and beginning of November. Every Wednesday at noon, until November 6th, Trinity's organist will perform on the church's Allen organ. Repertoire will include early to modern pipe -organ selections. Audiences are invited to bring their lunches to the performance. Admission will be by donation, with proceeds going to the maintenance of the organ. Living the 8 th Fire Missions Emphasis Weekend, November 22-24 In the time of the seventh fire [prophecy], the white race will be given a choice between two paths: one will lead to destruction, the other to the lighting of the Eighth and final fire, an Eternal Fire of Peace, Love, and Brotherhood. -Traditional Anishnabe prophecy All of you are Christ's body, and each one is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27 This circle time is an invitation for you to hear the voices and perspectives of the Indigenous people, exploring broken relationships of the past, and the repercussions they still have today. Along with guided discussion, this workshop will incorporate segments of the CBC documentary The 8th Fire, directed by Wab Kinew. This time will challenge us into a journey of reflection and action, necessary to restore broken and damaged relationships between the Indigenous and non-indigenous people in this country. We believe this is what God is calling us to as people, as citizens and members and the body of Christ.
