CHRONOLOGICAL BIBLE STUDY LESSON 593 Revelation Lesson # 13

Intro What was the covenant between God and man? What was the purposed of the laws in the OT? What is the purpose of God s Word today? What has been God s plan all thru the Bible? Where is John?

1. What is the one who sat on the throne holding in His right hand? God is on the throne He is holding a scroll a roll of Papyrus Written on both sides Seal with 7 seals Papyrus was made from the pith of a bulrush that grew in the delta of the Nile Papyrus was expensive

3. What is the question concerning this scroll? Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll? In Rome a will was sealed by 7 witnesses with their seals applied and it could not be opened without all 7 being present Seals were also placed on very important documents for secrecy

4. What is the problem with the scroll why did John weep? Answer to question of who is worthy vs 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. No one is worthy

5. What does Romans 3. 23 add to why John wept? There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinnedand fall short of the glory of God

6. Who is the only one worthy enuf to open the scroll? Vs 5 Then one of the elders said to me, Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals. Jesus is worthy because Of His victory over death at Calvary Of His complete obedience to The Father He knows The Father s secrets He is able to reveal those secrets It is His privilege to preside over the opening of the seal and be in control of the things that will come

7. What are the 2 Jewish titles used for this man in verse 5? Lion of Judah Genesis 49. 9 You are a lion scub, judah; you return from the prey,my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness who dares to rouse him? The Root of David Isaiah 11. 1 & 10 A shootwill come up from the stumpof Jesse; from his roots a Branchwill bear fruit. 10 In that daythe Root of Jessewill stand as a bannerfor the peoples; the nationswill rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.

8. What is seen in verse 6? Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Jesus appears Revelation refers to Jesus as the Lams 29+ times Lamb 7 horns 7 eyes = 7 spirits Standing in the center of the throne

9. From verse 6 what reveals the Trinity? Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. God is on the throne Jesus The Lamb stands in the center of the throne 7 eyes = the spirit of God

10. What is being said in verse 7? He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. Jesus took the sealed scroll from God His Father

11. After The Lamb took the scroll what did the creatures do? And when he had taken it, the four living creaturesand the twenty-four eldersfell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harpand they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayersof God s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying: You are worthyto take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your bloodyou purchasedfor God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and prieststo serve our God, and they will reign on the earth. They fell down and worshipped the Lamb The harp was a traditional Jewish used to sing the Psalms Golden bowls filled w/ incense the prayers They sang a new song vss 9-10

12. Who are the they in verse 9? And when he had taken it, the four living creaturesand the twenty-four eldersfell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harpand they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayersof God s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying: You are worthyto take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your bloodyou purchasedfor God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and prieststo serve our God, and they will reignon the earth. The 24 elders The 4 living creatures

13. What is said in vs 10 that gives reason for them breaking forth in praises? You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth. Jesus death was sacrificial not an accident or punishment Jesus death was emancipating set free Jesus death was universal for all Why did Jesus die??? He made us kings opened God s storehouse of royalty He made us priests OT only priests could go before God He gave us the victory

14. Who joins in the singing and praising in verses 11-12? 11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand.they encircled the throne and the living creaturesand the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying: Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive powerand wealthand wisdomand strengthand honorand gloryand praise! The angels tens of thousands 1 Chronicles 29. 10-12 10 David praised thelordin the presence of the whole assembly, saying, Praise be to you, lord, the God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. 1 Yours,LORD, is the greatnessand the powerand the glory and the majestyand the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours,LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 12 Wealthand honorcome from you; you are the rulerof all things. In your hands are strengthand powerto exalt and give strength to all. 13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

15. What is key in verse 13? Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever! EVERY creature in heaven - on earth under the earth everyone

16. What do the following say that relates to verse 13: Isaiah 45. 23 By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. Romans 14. 11 It is written: As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God. Philippians 2. 9-11 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

17. What really happened in Chapter 5? God has introduced The Lamb Jesus Jesus took the possession of the world the redeemed He is about to bring about the climax of God s plan
