Zion exists to + Love God + Communicate God s love to families and individuals in Church Staff our community and beyond Rev. Olivia Poole- Reneau Carol Duke Church School Superintendent To be Filled Children s Ministries Coordinator Sara Banks Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Grace and peace in the name of Christ the risen Lord! What a wonderful Easter Sunday experienced this year! The joy of Christ was evident in our sunrise service celebration as well as our traditional worship service. We often need to be reminded that life always triumphs over death. Thank you to all who helped lead, plan, and prepare for our worship during Holy Week and on Easter Sunday. It is a joy to serve with you. Even though we celebrate the risen Lord on Easter Sunday, did you know that there is an entire season in the church dedicated to celebrating the empty tomb? Yes! There is an entire fifty days in which the church calls to celebrate and proclaim the risen Christ! The season of Easter begins at sunset on the eve of Easter and ends on Pentecost, the day we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. This extended season gives us time to rejoice and experience what it means when we boldly proclaim, "Christ is risen!" It s the season when we remember our baptisms and how through this sacrament we are, according to the liturgy, incorporated into Christ s mighty acts of salvation. As Easter people, we also celebrate and ponder the birth of the Church and gifts of the Spirit and how we are to live as faithful disciples of Christ. Please, don t miss Easter this year! We will celebrate the risen Lord for an entire fifty days and celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ. Youth Director Nursery Director Pianist Organist Secretary Custodian Newsletter Editor Lucas Tribble Nikki Bonner Greg Waldrep Jeannie Boehmler Heather Wilmot Mary Canty Sarah Andrews In addition to the season of Easter, the month of April holds three important events. First, the Car Show, a long anticipated event serves as both a fundraiser and an outreach event to our local community. I am thankful for all who have helped plan and coordinate this event. As always, it will be a wonderful time of fellowship! Please join us on April 2nd! The Antioch Project is underway with the Imaging Committee's work. Part of the project requires that we consider a name change. The Imaging Committee is proposing the name "Smiths Station United Methodist Church" and naming our sanctuary "The Mount Zion Sanctuary." On April 17th, Dr. Robbins Sims will be joining us in worship and then will preside at a Church Conference as we vote on this proposal. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Sims to Mount Zion!.continued on page 3...
