November -December 2018 Newsletter It is that time of year that I call The Threes Seasons. They are the seasons of Boo! Gratitude and Peace, Love & Joy. Let s start with the Season of Boo! October is such a wonderful opportunity to free ourselves by facing our fears and laughing at them. Jerry Jampolsky wrote the book Love is Letting Go of Fear, and he described the importance of letting go of fear. We joyously dress up in costumes, decorate with pumpkins and release all fear as we celebrate with candy! How fun! November gives us a chance to assess our level of gratitude. I admit to the need to remind myself of all the things and people I have to be grateful for rather than focusing on what s wrong with the world. Practicing this one principle of Gratitude lifts our being up to a higher level of spirit. Let s affirm together In union with God, I live in Gratitude and walk in Grace. December is the apex of Joy as we complete the freeing process. As a child, I grew up in a family that, by today s standards, had so little. Still, I was awestruck by the holidays! I think it was because I tapped into the hope of the joy, love & peace that is created when we all shift into a higher state of being. Joy is the result of choosing to live from a higher perspective of our union with Grace. Let s walk through these three seasons together, releasing our fears, expressing gratitude for each other and feeling the love, peace & joy of Being in Union with God. Yea for the Three Seasons of Fall & Winter! Blessings, Ann Marie
Message from our President: It s that time of year again. The thunderstorms are just about over. The heat and humidity drops to allow for wonderful outdoor temperatures. Friends and family begin to call to ask about visiting opportunities and yes, our membership begins swelling again due to the arrival of our own snowbirds. We indeed welcome them back home, and we have a surprise for them as well. While they were gone, we welcomed some new friends and neighbors into our church family. In fact, many of the church seats were occupied for the Summer. Just for the record, we now are one short of seventy-nine card carrying members! If you add all our other members, we easily exceed one hundred attendees on our rolls. This is a great challenge to have to adjust to. It means we have to be ever alert in our parking lot manners. Entering and exiting correctly and fitting into one stall rather than one and a half. The Board is exploring other means of relief and has requested estimates on an enlarged parking area. But, help us in the meantime, by car pooling and leaving room for the car next to you. The Board will do its part by parking in the gravel lot on the North side of the church. If there is room you are welcome there as well. Additional membership also means we have the funding to begin projects that we feel will raise our spirits and improve the ambiance of our wonderful little church inside. Crown molding may be up on the walls with hanging tapestry in the front before this writing reaches you. We are identifying and welcoming new groups to partner with us as a community outreach effort to market our church and membership opportunities. The Weight Watcher group now meets here weekly and fills the parking lot to the brim. As the public becomes more aware of our presence, I m sure we will have other opportunities. Finally, we are revisiting our web site and newsletter to expand and add depth to their coverage of our activities and opportunities. Please let Ann Marie or Elaine Wood know if you would like to become involved with either or both. We ll be sharing more ideas with you as time allows. Thanks everyone for making Unity in the Valley Church a loving and spiritually welcome presence for all who visit. Blessings, Ken
