The Song Of The Redeemed Exodus 15:1-21

Psalm 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Introduction A. Safely through the Red Sea 1. Delivered people experience God s protection 2. They have walked through the Red Sea on dry ground

Introduction B. Their enemies were destroyed 1. The Egyptians tried to follow God s people 2. Miracles cannot be sustained by the flesh 3. Pharaoh s forces were drowned in the sea

Introduction Exodus 15:1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

I. The Lord Is My Strength Exodus 15:2-10 2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. 3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name. 4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. 5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

I. The Lord Is My Strength Exodus 15:2-10 - continued 6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. 7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. 8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

I. The Lord Is My Strength Exodus 15:2-10 - continued 9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. 10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

I. The Lord Is My Strength A. Memories of slavery 1. These people had labored long and hard 2. The sting of whips; the death of their sons 3. Had longed for freedom but too weak to secure it Psalm 7:1 O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I. The Lord Is My Strength B. Then God intervened and by His strength set them free Psalm 40:17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

I. The Lord Is My Strength C. Many have found God s strength sufficient Isaiah 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

II. The Lord Is My Song Exodus 15:11-12 11 Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? 12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.

II. The Lord Is My Song A. Who is like thee? 1. Glorious in holiness 2. Fearful in praises 3. Doing wonders Psalm 77:14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

II. The Lord Is My Song B. When God becomes your song 1. Not just the supreme ruler, but your Savior, Redeemer Psalm 118:14 The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

II. The Lord Is My Song B. When God becomes your song - continued 2. Not just somebody up there, but the One in in your heart Psalm 77:6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

II. The Lord Is My Song B. When God becomes your song - continued 3. Not just the ruler of the planets, but of your plans Psalm 32:7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah

II. The Lord Is My Song C. God gives us a song Psalm 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. 1. The world needs to hear this song 2. Let them hear God s song in you

III. The Lord Is Become My Salvation Exodus 15:13-19 13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. 14 The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. 15 Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

III. The Lord Is Become My Salvation Exodus 15:13-19 - continued 16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. 17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.

III. The Lord Is Become My Salvation Exodus 15:13-19 - continued 18 The Lord shall reign for ever and ever. 19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.

III. The Lord Is Become My Salvation A. Thou in thy mercy has led forth his people B. Praise God in song 1. For His mercy 2. For His leading 3. For who He is 4. For His guidance 5. For His holiness 6. For His salvation

Conclusion The Lord shall reign for ever and ever.
