Make sure your family and friends know and invite them to tune in and watch Harvest from St. George s. We are hoping you will join us at church that day with all your family. And ask your friends around the world to join us (along with the other dozens of St Georges Churches from Sydney to Sicily). They can watch from their computers here: https://www.periscope.tv/churchlive/1zqkvzaplqlkb By the way, once you have left church and had a coffee you can dash home and click on the same link and watch the service again online as it will be up for a few days. More information from Audrey Linney 023 92 264565 Church Shop The dates are 26th September 8th October but we are collecting now. Chris Gadd has managed to secure some storage at Concise Storage which is in Arnside Road ( to the right of Sainsbury s). We have now secured premises for the charity shop. Thank you Savills. If you are having a turn out please remember us. Also if you have spare clothes hangers or can loan us clothes rails please see Patricia Byrne. Concise Storage will take anything you have to offer us. Just drop in and say it's for the church. Ring Concise on 023 9226 3197, say you are from St George s and arrange with them to drop the items off into our storage unit. We also need help to run the shop so if you have a couple of hours to spare put your name on the schedule which is at the back of the church. We are grateful for any time you can offer. See Chris or Patricia Byrne for more information.

African Child Trust A group of people at St. George's support four children in Africa through African Child Trust. Since starting nearly 15 years ago we have supported many orphaned children through their education and into adult life. Without our support these children would have remained at home and received no education. We began with over 40 contributors but due to movings and passings away, we are considerably down on that number. Can you help? We ask for 20 a year, payable by mid September. You will receive regular updates about the four children we support as well as the occasional letter direct from them. Please see Tony Rice-Oxley if you are interested in helping with this project. The Mothers Union autumn programme begins on 15th September at 2:15pm in the church hall where Margaret Symonds will give an illustrated talk on her recent visit to the Holy Land. Shoeboxes Jane Cook will again be collecting Shoeboxes for disadvantaged children in Albania, Montenegro, Moldova and the Philippines. There is some information on the table at the back of church together with some of last year s leaflets giving you details of the ages and what to put in your box. As soon as Jane receives the new leaflets she will put them at the back of the church. She doubts the contents will change much. Please remember to sellotape 1 to your box. You can let her have the boxes anytime but the last Sunday for collection is Sunday 30th October. Thanks Jane Cook Sponsored Walk Sarah Brewer is doing a sponsored walk on the 24 th of September to raise money for The Alzehimers Society. She would appreciate all the support you can give her. There is a sponsorship form on the table at the back of church. Thank you Congratulations to David Palmer on winning the Portsmouth & District Bowling Association's Secretary's & Treasurer's singles competition, and also the club champion for Cowplain Bowling Club.
