African Child Trust A group of people at St. George's support four children in Africa through African Child Trust. Since starting nearly 15 years ago we have supported many orphaned children through their education and into adult life. Without our support these children would have remained at home and received no education. We began with over 40 contributors but due to movings and passings away, we are considerably down on that number. Can you help? We ask for 20 a year, payable by mid September. You will receive regular updates about the four children we support as well as the occasional letter direct from them. Please see Tony Rice-Oxley if you are interested in helping with this project. The Mothers Union autumn programme begins on 15th September at 2:15pm in the church hall where Margaret Symonds will give an illustrated talk on her recent visit to the Holy Land. Shoeboxes Jane Cook will again be collecting Shoeboxes for disadvantaged children in Albania, Montenegro, Moldova and the Philippines. There is some information on the table at the back of church together with some of last year s leaflets giving you details of the ages and what to put in your box. As soon as Jane receives the new leaflets she will put them at the back of the church. She doubts the contents will change much. Please remember to sellotape 1 to your box. You can let her have the boxes anytime but the last Sunday for collection is Sunday 30th October. Thanks Jane Cook Sponsored Walk Sarah Brewer is doing a sponsored walk on the 24 th of September to raise money for The Alzehimers Society. She would appreciate all the support you can give her. There is a sponsorship form on the table at the back of church.
