CHURCH DRILL 2016 Blue Cycle HCSB The following guidelines will be used at all State Drill locations. Your church may use these same guidelines if you so choose. Instructions given to the audience before starting the drill: 1. No video taping, photography, or any other electronic equipment is allowed during the state drills. Pictures may only be taken when the drill is completed and only of your church drill team. 2. Remain as quiet as possible when the drills begin. Do not mouth answers, use body language, sudden intakes of breath, stomp feet, etc. It is distracting for everyone involved in the drill, including callers, judges, drill members and audience members. 3. If a disturbance occurs in the room the person(s) responsible is to leave the room immediately. Example: crying or noisy child, persistent cough, etc. You will not be able to reenter the room once you leave. 4. Turn off all pagers, phones, and alarms on watches before the drills begin. 5. Drill members and audience members are to place all items under their chairs (extra Bibles, leaflets, pencils, papers, stop watches, etc). Instructions given to the participants before starting the drill: 1. Hands at your side for attention. 2. Remember to look at me until the call start is given. 3. After you have found the reference, and stepped forward, look at me. 4. Do not step out if you do not know the answer. 5. Treat the Bible with respect. 6. Be sure your finger is on the reference BEFORE you step out. It may be on any page of the book for the Book Drill or in any verse in the passage for the Key Passage Drill. 7. Once you step out do not step back. If you have made a mistake, raise your hand. 8. Do not move your finger from one reference to another after you have stepped forward. Do not turn a page after you have stepped out, unless you are called upon and request permission. 9. When one person is called on to read, everyone else should follow along silently in his own Bible or look at me. 10. If you have started to step out and time is called, don t hesitate, step on out. It will be up to the judges to decide whether you had started your motion before time was called. 11. If all children have stepped out before time is called, the caller proceeds with the drill rather than waiting for time to be called. 12. If you feel like you can t continue the drill, quietly ask the caller for permission to leave. You will have an opportunity to drill at a later time if there is an open spot available.
