Make It Fun (Introductory Activities, 15 minutes) Set up the two activities below before class begins. While the children are entering the classroom begin Swim With Me. Let one or two teachers lead activities in the room while another teacher greets parents and kids at the door. 1. Swim With Me What You Need: CD or DVD player with ocean sounds. What You Do: Play the ocean sounds as you pretend to swim around the room. Use big, fun motions as you show the children how to do the backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and butterfly. Pretend to float on your backs and look up at the sky as you lie on the floor. Ask the children what sounds they hear as you float together. What You Say: Have you ever thought about who made the nice, cool water you swim in on hot summer days? (Pause.) Wow! You are smart thinkers! Our Bible story today is about how God made water! I wonder how He did that, don t you? (Pause.) I can t wait to hear all about it! 2. Ball in the Water What You Need: Large sheet or tablecloth and a ball. What You Do: Have the children stand in a circle and ask each of them to hold onto a portion of the sheet or tablecloth. Have them pull it tight so that it is off the ground. This will be your water. Place the ball onto the water and have the children work together to make waves and bounce the ball around. What You Say: Whew! That was some great exercise! It is fun to pretend we are playing with water. Hmmm I wonder who made the water. (Pause.) Today in our story we are going to find out, and I can t wait to hear all about it! 2

Make It True (Large Group Worship, 20 minutes) This month s songs are on the 2 s / PK Worship DVD. Kids and teachers should play instruments during the verses and then do the motions during the chorus. The motions for the verses are provided if you find them helpful, but we encourage you just to dance around in worship. 1. Music Chose 3-4 songs from the PK Worship DVD to be played through the computer or TV located in your classroom. The words for the songs will be shown on the DVD and hand motions can be found online at http://vimeo.com/channels/483174. Ideas for songs on the PK / 2 s DVD: Track 1 Happy Day Track 2 Who s the King of the Jungle Track 3 Hosanna Track 7 Step by Step 2. Verse LEADER: Are you ready to learn this month s memory verse? It s all about how God created everything! God (point straight up) created (work your hands in front of you like you are shaping dough) the heavens (bring your arms from your sides to a V overhead while you look up) and the earth, (move your arms from the V to a circle overhead) Genesis 1:1. (open your palms in front of you like you re opening a book) Let s do it together. Are you ready? Do the verse with the kids two or three times. 3. Offering Pass around the offering bag or bucket to collect any offering for today. Say, We collect offering every week to give the first of our money back to God- 2 Chronicles 31:5 says... the Israelites gave generously. They didn t hold back! They brought in a tithe of everything they owned. Let s offer to God with generous hearts our tithes for today. 4. Video *Be sure to prep Puddle Jump in the Make it Stick section during this time. Play this week s video from Wonder, Look at God s Story DVD. 3

Make It Stick (Application Activities, 35 minutes) 1. Puddle Jump What You Need: Blue construction paper, scissors, tape, ocean music. What You Do: Before the activity: Cut several large puddle shapes out of your blue construction paper and tape your puddles to the floor all around the room, placing them close enough to each other so the children can easily jump from puddle to puddle. During the activity: Once at a time, have the children jump from puddle to puddle while saying the words to this month s memory verse. To further challenge the kids, have them try to do the motions to the verse as well or turn it into a race.. What You Say: That was so much fun! Remind me so I won t forget. Who made the rain and the water? (Pause.) God did; that s right! Well, if God made the rain and the water, who made everything? (Pause.) [Bottom Line] God made everything! You guys are super smart! One more time, who made everything? (Pause.) [Bottom Line] God made everything! 2. What Goes in the Water? What You Need: Water Activity Page, crayons, scissors, and glue sticks. What You Do: Have the children cut out the dashed boxes on the right side of the page. Once they have cut out all of the boxes, ask them to determine which pictures belong in the scene. Next, have them glue those boxes on the scene. Then guide the children to color the rest of the scene. What You Say: Your pictures look AWESOME! These are great reminders that God made the oceans and water. In fact, [Bottom Line] God made EVERYTHING! Who made everything? (Pause.) Yes! [Bottom Line] God made everything! 3. Response Picture Cards What You Need: Memory Verse Card with umbrella on back, crayons, blue stamp pads, and wet wipes. What You Do: Review the memory verse and motions together and you had out the cards. Once you have reviewed the verse, have the children turn it over to the umbrella on the back. Allow them to color the umbrella any color they would like. Then have each child place their index finger in the ink on the stamp pad and encourage them to make fingerprints all over the page to represent raindrops. When you re finished, wipe messy fingers with the wet wipes. What You Say: Who makes it rain? (Pause.) Yes, God makes it rain! God made the water, the oceans, and even the rain! Who made everything? (Pause.) Absolutely! [Bottom Line] God made everything! 4. Snack Time Talk about what the kids can do in water and what we use water for. 4

Make It Real (Small Groups, 5 minutes) Make It Real is designed to help preschoolers understand how the Bottom Line applies to them. 1. Small Group Time SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): Our new Bible verse says, God created the heavens and the earth, Genesis 1:1. Let s say that verse together a few times. God (point straight up) created (work your hands in front of you like you are shaping dough) the heavens (bring your arms from your sides to a V overhead while you look up) and the earth, (move your arms from the V to a circle overhead) Genesis 1:1. (open your palms in front of you like you re opening a book) 2. Prayer If time allows feel free to ask for prayer requests. Dear God, we think water is SO amazing! We are so glad You made it! We want to tell You thank for making water, God. You are the amazing Creator and we love You very much. In Jesus name, amen. 3. Get Ready to Dismiss Set any take-home creations where you or parents can get them easily. What Goes in the Water? Memory Verse Cards Greet parents at the door and tell them that this month preschoolers are learning that [Bottom Line] God made everything! Encourage parents to repeat the bottom line at home and help their child understand that [Bottom Line] God made everything! Parents will be given this month s Small Talk Resource as they check-in. There will be more available at the Loop Welcome Desk if any parents ask. 5
