What s happening in FBCH Student Ministry? Youth Mystery Retreat group picture Christmas Caroling December was a great month of activity for our student ministry, even though it was a short month with only two Wednesday night gatherings. The student ministry Christmas caroling night on December 7 th was a cold and bitter night, but the students that attended brought great Christmas cheer and joy to some of our FBCH senior adults. I believe the students enjoyed as much as the senior adults that we were able to minister to. The student ministry Christmas party was on December 14 th. We enjoyed Christmas games, gifts, music, food, and a Christmas devotional. January brings the start of a new calendar year and I hope the start of a great second semester for all our students. We are tentatively planning a 5 th Quarter party after the Goblin basketball game on January 20 th. In January we will also start promoting, getting information out, and signing up for an event called the Lift Tour which will be on February 3-4 th in Rogers, Arkansas. This is a youth conference that will challenge us and inspire us in our walk with the Lord. The cost for this event will be $40. ROC Ministry Volunteers Needed!!! Pastor Youth/Recreation Renee Cates Preschool Director Susan Anderson Financial Secretary Betty Johnson Receptionist/Secretary Ron Pittman Facility Supervisor The Fruit of the Holy Spirit What is Kindness? The resulting character of someone who is allowing the Holy Spirit to develop maturity in his or her life. In the KJV kindness is called gentleness. Kindness is the characteristic that led God to provide salvation for us. Kindness leads God to give us green pastures, quiet waters, and the restoration of our souls when we re weary. It is God s tender care that make Him want to gather us under His wings, to protect us and keep us close to Him. On multiple occasions, kindness induced Jesus to stop what He was doing and help others in need. And kindness leads the Good Shepherd to rescue us when we stray. When we exhibit the kindness of God, we are tender, benevolent, and useful to others. Every action, every word will have the flavor of grace in it. To maintain this attitude toward those we love is hard enough. To express kindness toward those who are against us requires the work of God. That is why kindness is a fruit of the Spirit. You cannot help but be more kind to others if God s love is flowing through you. A Kind Person: Gives Forgives Is thoughtful Smiles, even in tough situations Is attractive Is willing to be second Does not insist on having his or her own way Takes pleasure in pleasing others Has a pleasant disposition Has goodness of heart Has concern for others Is gentle Is warm-hearted Is merciful Is understanding Uses kind words With these qualities you will not only be able to touch others and do wonders for them, but you will also be able to touch yourself...it will make you feel so much better.
