In the spirit of the holiday season, we hope you ll consider partnering with us by supporting this year s Fund for All Saints. All gifts - regardless of amount - work together to enrich our programs, enhance services for current and future students, and support our faculty. Imagine the endless possibilities if every family supported the Fund for All Saints. Every contribution will make a difference by providing direct benefits to both our students and our faculty. Goal 100% Participation Check out our short video, which highlights the importance of 100% participation, at www.youtube.com/allsaintscs and donate today at /donate. Cold Weather Reminders With the colder weather arriving, here are just a couple of reminders for our families to keep in mind during the winter months: Students still go outside for recess if the temperature is above 10-degrees fahrenheit, so please dress them in warm gear. All ASCS safeties must wear warm clothes outside on duty. They are outside much longer than normal and it is a good example for other students. Please do NOT drop off your students prior to the doors opening at 7:50 a.m. With no adult supervision and freezing temperatures, it is not safe for students to be outside. Bus Updates Just a reminder All Saints Catholic School won t have bus service home on: Friday, December 22 Growing Leaders in Mind, Body, and Spirit 48735 Warren Road Canton, MI 48187 (734) 459-2490 Office (734) 459-6873 Attendance

In The Know December 22 No Early Childhood Classes Early Dismissal (11:30 a.m.) No Bus Service Home December 23-January 7 Christmas Break Students Bring Joy To Pantry Last Tuesday, members of the All Saints National Junior Honor Society and Student Council brought Christmas cheer to the All Saints Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry in Detroit. Students were on a mission to deliver presents collected from current families during our Advent Giving Tree program. Thanks to the generosity of All Saints students and parents, 102 children from 31 families will enjoy opening gifts this Christmas season. After unloading a fully loaded, 10-foot U-Haul filled with presents, the students toured the soup kitchen and food pantry and spent time in prayer at the All Saints church. January 12 Student Credit Union January 22-26 Auction Super Week Congrats Alumni! Congratulations to two All Saints Catholic School alumni, who are also brother and sister, as they both graduated from EMU with a Masters degree over the weekend! Congratulations to Mr. Joseph Pacente and, current first grade teacher, Mrs. Caitlin Fishbeck!!! Congratulations to both former students! Christmas Tree in Kellogg Park The annual Walk of Trees in downtown Plymouth s Kellogg Park and All Saints is excited to have a tree this year. Don t forget to send in a picture of your student with the tree to the office for a chance to win a gift card to office@allsaintscs.com. www.facebook.com/allsaintscs

Classroom Happenings... Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Fifth graders were transported in time as they celebrated at the annual Renaissance Faire last week. Dressed in costumes of the era, the students sculpted art from bars of soap and painted. They also enjoyed knight-racing with pool-noodle horses, juggling, bean-bag archery, and jousting with cones. One of the most popular activities was tossing cloth balls at Mrs. Shore during her turn in the pillory! The trip back in time ended with a Kings and Queens banquet, where the students feasted on chicken legs, vegetables, soup, cheese, grapes, and apple juice to toast their mastery of the lessons of the Renaissance. On Saturday, December 9th, the All Saints Quiz Bowl Teams competed at the Middle School Quiz Bowl Tournament hosted at Detroit Catholic Central. All three ASCS teams performed admirably! Congratulations to overall individual competitors, Drew Laroo (4th place), Julianna Santillan (7th place), and Russell Schwartz (11th place). Way to go teams! Keep up the great work! The All Saints community celebrated the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe during our Tuesday school Mass. Students of Hispanic heritage led the procession, and each placed a single rose in front of a picture of Our Lady. Students from the 8th grade Spanish elective, taught by Mrs. Lashaway, performed a brief skit depicting St. Juan Diego receiving the apparition of Mary. Fr. Ron Richards explained that the spread of Catholicism in the Americas is due to Our Lady of Guadalupe, and that we should all recognize her importance to our faith. All of the Mass readings were done in both English and Spanish, with the 8th grade Spanish language students sharing reading duties with 4th graders. Classroom Happenings (Cont.) About 225 people helped commemorate the journey of Mary and Joseph during All Saints annual Nativity Night last Tuesday. During the event, attendees followed Mary and Joseph toward Bethlehem as they prepared for Jesus birth. Fr. Thomas Kramer and Deacon Paul Lippard of Resurrection Parish helped lead the route. Several fourth grade students were actors, and readers included members of Student Council and the National Junior Honor Society. Nativity Night is a wonderful opportunity for our families to focus on the true meaning of Advent and prepare for Christ s arrival. In addition to the formal procession, guests enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies, crafts, a story time and live choir music. Several All Saints classes and families also displayed their Nativity sets in a Nativity museum. Last week our 8th grade algebra students were busy with string art! Students, armed with needle and thread, took a break from the norm and worked on this annual project that taught usefulness of symmetry and coordinate planes. Last Friday, our pre-kindergarten students enjoyed an ASCS Gingerbread tradition! Students enjoyed preparing and baking gingerbread cookies today in the school kitchen, but as they were reading a story, the cookies ESCAPED, but not without a few clues to find them along the way! Students went from clue-to-clue, before finally locating the baked gingerbread cookies! www.facebook.com/allsaintscs
