Introduction Some Promises of God In This Life What are some of God s promises we can enjoy now as His children? Misunderstanding God s promises for us now can lead to discouragement, ingratitude and self-pity Our expectations do not match what He has promised Deception we should have all needs and wants met Faith in God weakens 2 Introduction Understanding God s promises in this life should increase our trust in Him Daily faithfulness should lead us to enjoy future promise of eternal life Unlike humanity, God is always faithful to fulfill His promises Sometimes doubt that we can understand the Bible Further doubt we have ability to obey His will The Lord has promised we can know, understand and do His will 3 4 Joh 6:44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. Joh 6:45 "It is written in the prophets, 'AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. Eph 3:3 that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. Eph 3:4 By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 6

Eph 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, Eph 3:17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length Eph 3:19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Eph 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, Eph 3:21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and height and depth, 7 and ever. Amen. 8 Our greatest problem unforgiven sins Without forgiveness, eternal torment awaits us If we meet the conditions of obeying the gospel, the Lord has promised He will forgive our sins by the blood of Jesus 9 Mat 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Act 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 10 1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 1Jn 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to Way Of Escape From When we face temptations, we do not have to be Satan s victims The Lord has promised us a way of escape that we can choose instead of committing sin cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 11 12

Way Of Escape From 1Co 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. Way Of Escape From Jas 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Jas 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you doubleminded. 13 14 Worry over and desire to acquire many material things is one of the greatest threats to our faith Often, we sacrifice serving God as He directs in order to gain these physical things The Lord has promised He will meet our daily needs if we seek to submit to His will above all 15 Mat 6:20 "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; Mat 6:21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 16 Mat 6:24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. Mat 6:25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 17 18

Mat 6:26 "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? Mat 6:30 "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 19 Mat 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 20 Trials and persecutions come to us and often lead us to question why God allows such things to happen to us, His children He has promised us that we will have trials but His intention is that our faith might be strengthened and completed Jas 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, Jas 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Jas 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 21 22 2Ti 3:10 Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, 2Ti 3:11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me! 2Ti 3:12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 23 Rom 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 24

Hear And Answer Our Prayers We pray and wonder why the Lord does not answer as we have asked Does He really hear us and if He does, does He truly care about us? The Lord has promised to hear and answer our prayers, providing what is best Hear And Answer Our Prayers Mat 7:11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! Php 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 25 26 Hear And Answer Our Prayers 1Pe 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 1Pe 5:7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. God s Faithfulness and Promise of Eternal Life Tit 1:2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago, Tit 1:3 but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior, 27 28 Some of God s Promises In This Life 1. Ability to understand and do His will 2. Forgiveness of our sins 3. Way of escape from temptation 4. Provide all that we need each day 5. Trials, including persecution, to strengthen our faith 6. Hear and answer our prayers 7. Eternal life 29
