Presbyterian Church in America SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE SEPTEMBER 15, 2013

8:15 AM Order of Worship Prelude Welcome Suzanne Roberson His Name Is Wonderful His name is Wonderful, His name is Wonderful, His name is Wonderful, Jesus, my Lord; He is the mighty King, Master of everything, His name is Wonderful, Jesus, my Lord. He s the great Shepherd, the Rock of all ages, Almighty God is He; bow down before Him, love and adore Him; His name is Wonderful, Jesus, my Lord. Call to Worship How Firm a Foundation How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! What more can He say than to you He hath said, to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled? Fear not! I am with thee; O be not dismayed, for I am thy God, and will still give thee aid. I ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand. When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply. The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine. The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose; I will not, I will not desert to his foes. That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I ll never, no never, no never forsake! The Apostle s Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Offering Prayer Offertory Suzanne Roberson

Doxology Old One Hundredth Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Confession of Sin and Assurance of Forgiveness Pastoral Prayer Sermon: The Great Commission and the Ascension Dan Ratchford Acts 1:1-11 I Stand Amazed I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus, the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean. Chorus How marvelous, how wonderful! And my song shall ever be: how marvelous, how wonderful is my Savior s love for me! For me it was in the garden He prayed, Not My will, but Thine. He had no tears for His own griefs, but sweat drops of blood for mine. In pity angels beheld Him and came from the world of light to comfort Him in the sorrows He bore for my soul that night. He took my sins and my sorrows; He made them His very own. He bore the burden to Calvary and suffered and died alone. When with the ransomed in glory His face I at last shall see, Twill be my joy through the ages to sing of His love for me. Benediction Jack Carmody Postlude

10:30 AM Order of Worship Prelude Welcome Suzanne Roberson Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder Let us love and sing and wonder, let us praise the Savior s name, He has hushed the law s loud thunder, He has quenched Mount Sinai s flame, He has washed us with His blood, He has washed us with His blood, He has washed us with His blood, He has brought us nigh to God. Let us love the Lord who bought us, pitied us when enemies called us by His grace and taught us, Gave us ears and gave us eyes, He has washed us with His blood, He has washed us with His blood, He has washed us with His blood, He presents our souls to God. Let us sing though fierce temptation, threatens hard to bear us down, for the Lord, our strong salvation, holds in view the conqueror s crown, He who washed us with His blood, He who washed us with His blood, He who washed us with His blood, soon will bring us home to God. Call to Worship Jack Carmody How Firm a Foundation How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! Everyone needs forgiveness. The kindness of a Savior; the hope of nations. Chorus Savior, He can move the mountains. My God is Mighty to save; He is Mighty to save. Forever, Author of salvation. He rose and conquered the grave; Jesus conquered the grave. So take me as You find me; all my fears and failures. Fill my life again. I give my life to follow. Everything I believe in, now, I surrender. Shine your light and let the whole world see. We re singing for the glory of the risen King. Benediction Jack Carmody Postlude
