Remembrance Please remember the families of those killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon and Twin Towers. The 17 th anniversary will be Tuesday. Parish Shirts and Hats for sale Beginning the weekend of August 4th there will be 175th Anniversary shirts and hats for sale at $10 each. They can be purchased after Mass. Ad Book So far we have close to $8,000 in ads from businesses. We met with the printer who suggested we use staples as the binder. Hard covers and spirals are much more expensive and not that necessary. The ads are full, half and quarter pages. Five committee members have gone to all the local stores and reached out to businesses not from the area. It was and is a lot of work. We need to have them in by September 21. If you know of a friend or relative who has a business, please contact him or her for an ad in our Gala Book. Also, we have about 20 personal ads. Animal Blessing The annual blessing of animals, live and stuffed, will take place on Saturday, October 6 at 12 Noon on St. Paul s front steps. It usually takes about fifteen minutes. Please tell your friends and neighbors they are invited even if their pet is not a Catholic. Thank you! School Bag Blessing The annual blessing of the School Bags, will take place on Sunday, October 7 at the 12 Noon Mass at St. Paul s Gala Tickets So far we have sold 47 tickets. Anniversary Mass If anyone wishes to be on the Anniversary Mass Committee, please come to a meeting on Monday, September 17 th at 7 PM in the rectory. All are invited. Thank you Many parishioners have come up to me after Mass, on the street or in stores and asked how I was doing personally, with all the priest, bishop and cardinal sex abuse going on in the Church. I want to say thank you because caring about my wellbeing is so much encouragement. To me the Catholic Sex Abuse crisis seems like it will never end. I am grateful to all of you who still come and support the parish. One priest psychologist explained that this not only affects clergy but who those in the congregation who have experienced sex, physical and verbal abuse. Every time this is exposed it in the church, it reminds them of their own experience. They are hurting too, but who reaches out to them. Also, he said it is hard to people to even think of getting close to priests because so many who have gotten close and loved their priests, only to find out years later, that he had a dark side that destroyed the lives of many young people.
