OPENING HYMN Behold a Host, Arrayed in White 3

OPENING RITE Based on Psalm 118 M: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. M: Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: C: The Lord s right hand has done mighty things! M: The Lord s right hand is lifted high; C: the Lord s right hand has done mighty things! M: I will not die but live, C: and will proclaim what the Lord has done. M: The Lord has chastened me severely, C: but he has not given me over to death. M: Open for me the gates of the righteous; C: I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. 4

M: This is the gate of the Lord C: through which the righteous may enter. M: I will give you thanks, for you answered me; C: you have become my salvation. M: The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. C: And also with you. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. C: If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. M: Let us confess our sins to God our Father. C: Merciful Father in heaven, I am altogether sinful from birth. In countless ways I have sinned against you and do not deserve to be called your child. But trusting in Jesus, my Savior, I pray: Have mercy on me according to your unfailing love. Cleanse me from my sin and take away my guilt. M: God, our heavenly Father, has forgiven all your sins. By the perfect life and innocent death of our Lord Jesus Christ, he has removed your guilt forever. You are his own dear child. May God give you strength to live according to his will. C: Amen. LORD, HAVE MERCY M: O Dios, el Padre en el cielo, ten piedad de nosotros. Oh God, the Father in heaven, have mercy upon us. C: Lord, Have Mercy. M: O Dios, el Hijo, Redentor del mundo, ten piedad de nosotros. Oh God, the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy upon us. C: Lord, Have Mercy. 5

M: O Dios, el Espíritu Santo, verdadero consolador, ten piedad de nosotros. Oh God, the Holy Spirit, true comforter, have mercy upon us. C: Lord, Have Mercy. GLORY BE TO GOD 1 All glory be to God on high! Your name, O Lord, we glorify; We praise you for your peace and grace, Your favor toward our fallen race. 2 Our grateful thanks to you we bring, For your great glory, heav nly King, For all, O Father, you have done Through Jesus Christ, your only Son. 3 O Lamb of God, to you we pray. You take all human sin away. Have mercy, Lord; receive our prayer; From God s right hand, your mercy share. 4 You, Christ, are holy Lord alone; The Father s glory you made known. We by your Spirit sing again: All glory be to God! Amen. PRAYER OF THE DAY M: Almighty God and Savior, you have set the final day and hour when we shall be delivered from this world of sin and death. Keep us ever watchful for the coming of your Son that we may sit with him and all your holy ones at the marriage feast in heaven; through your Son, Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. 6

FIRST LESSON Daniel 12:1-3 At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people everyone whose name is found written in the book will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. SECOND LESSON 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. VERSE OF THE DAY Revelation 7:15a Alleluia. They are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple. Alleluia. GOSPEL Mark 13:24-27 24 But in those days, following that distress, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. 26 At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. 7

HYMN OF THE DAY For All the Saints SERMON Encourage one another with these words 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Anímense unos a otros con estas palabras 1 Tesalonicenses 4:13-18 8

NICENE CREED I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and became fully human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who in unity with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. PRAYER OF THE CHURCH The pastor leads the congregation in the prayer of the church. 9

OFFERING The members of Cristo Rey work together to support the work of the Lord in their community and around the world. Visitors should not feel obligated to participate. THE PREFACE M: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. M: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them up to the Lord. M: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God. C: It is good and right so to do. M: It is truly good and right that we should at all times and in all places, give thanks to you, Holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and we praise you this day for the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us and by whose testimony you have fixed our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Therefore, with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify your glorious name, evermore praising you and saying: HOLY, HOLY, HOLY 10

LORD S PRAYER Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen. WORDS OF INSTITUION M: Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night he was betrayed, took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take and eat; this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me. Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. 11

The peace of the Lord be with you always. C: Amen. LAMB OF GOD DISTRIBUTION OF HOLY COMMUNION God s Word teaches we should examine and prepare ourselves before receiving communion. It also teaches that communion is an expression of our unity in the faith. Therefore, we ask guests who are not members of our church or one of our affiliated churches to meet with our pastor before receiving communion the first time. 12

SONG OF THANKSGIVING PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING M: We give thanks to you, almighty God, that you have refreshed us through this sacrament, and we implore you that of your mercy you would strengthen us through the same in faith toward you and in fervent love toward one another; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. BLESSING M: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look on you with favor and give you peace. C: Amen. 13
