The Broncos and Pioneers will have the national stage Friday night, as the meet is the only top-10 matchup of the day. BLACK OUT Fans are encouraged to wear black Friday night, as the gymnasts will be wearing their black leotards. In addition, the first 1,000 fans will receive glow sticks at the door. SERIES HISTORY Denver leads the all-time series 16-13-1 and the Broncos dropped a pair of meets to the Pioneers earlier this season, falling 196.875 196.225 on Jan. 20 and then again in what was Boise State s best road score in school history on Feb. 11, coming up short 197.125 197.075. SCOUTING THE PIONEERS Denver comes into the meet with an RQS of 196.910 and a season-high score of 197.150 that they have achieved on two occasions (Feb. 18 and March 4). The Pioneers are led by two all-arounders ranked No. 10 and 11 in the MEET 9 #8 DENVER FRIDAY, MARCH 10 // 7 P.M. (MT) // BOISE, IDAHO TACO BELL ARENA country, Maddie Karr (39.450 RQS) and Julia Ross (39.410 RQS). Denver s strongest event is uneven bars where they are No. 8 (49.270 RQS) in the country, but they are also in the top 10 in vault (49.205 RQS T9th) and balance beam (49.250 RQS 9th). LAST TIME OUT Boise State shook off a slow start last Thursday night in Taco Bell Arena and finished strong to take down Utah State with a score of 196.700 195.675. The Broncos rallied down the stretch and used a season-high 49.300 on floor to pull away from the visiting Aggies. The Blue and Orange swept the event and all-around titles as Shani Remme won on uneven bars (9.9), balance beam (9.9), and also claimed the all-around honor with a 38.700. Mary Frances Bir won on vault with a 9.85 while Ann Stockwell and Sandra Collantes both posted 9.925s to share the floor title. STILL No. 10 The Road To Nationals team rankings for week nine of the 2017 season were announced Monday morning, and the Broncos maintained their No. 10 ranking after improving their RQS to a 196.700. The Broncos have been ranked in the top 10 in four of the nine weekly polls so far this season. The Blue and Orange climbed to as high as No. 7 on Feb. 13, good for a program record. SENIOR NIGHT MOJO Last year on March 12 the Broncos honored seniors Krystine Jacobsen, Maddie Krentz, Molly McFarland and Marissa Wossner by exploding for a 197.325 to earn the highest team score in school history, tallying wins over Southern Utah and San Jose State. Boise State was dominant on all four apparatuses; vault (49.325), uneven bars (49.475), balance beam (49.150) and floor (49.375). MRGC HONORS Remme continued her dominance in the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference as the league announced her as the recipient of both the Balance Beam and Uneven Bars Specialist of the Week on Monday. Remme has now earned two Uneven Bars Specialist of the Week and five Balance Beam Specialist of the Week awards this season. Stockwell and Collantes shined with 9.925s on floor to earn Floor Specialist of the Week honors. The 9.925 was a career high for Stockwell and a season high for Collantes. A LOOK BACK AT 2016... The 2016 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference championship team The 18-2 record is the best winning percentage (.900) in program history. The 15-0 record at the end of the 2016 regular season was the first time a Boise State gymnastics team went undefeated in the regular season. Boise State was also the only team to accomplish the feat last season out of the 82 teams that occupy Divisions I, II and III. A PAIR OF OLYMPIANS... Isabella (Panama) and Courtney McGregor (New Zealand) and McGregor competed in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, marking the first time in school history that the gymnastics program was represented at the Olympic Games with either past or present gymnasts. finished 44th in the all-around with a 52.832 and McGregor was slightly ahead in 41st place thanks to a 53.165. s highest individual event score came on vault (13.900), and McGregor ended up taking 13th in the same event after scoring a 14.533, just five spots away from qualifying for the final. SUCCESS IN THE CLASSROOM... 2015-16 Academic Year 2016 Fall Semester + Finished the 2015-16 academic year with a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.8087, giving them the highest team GPA among women s gymnastics teams in the country according to the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W). + The No. 1 ranking is the highest ranking in school history, surpassing the previous record set by the 2014-15 team that finished No. 3 thanks to a 3.7256 GPA. + The Broncos saw 93 percent (14-of-15 gymnasts) of the 2015-16 roster earn individual NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors, giving them the No. 2 percentage in the country. + Finished the 2016 fall semester with a semester GPA of 3.86 - a new record for the Boise State athletic department. + The team cumulative GPA of 3.77 is also an athletic department record. + There was also an athletic department record nine gymnasts who earned perfect 4.0 s in the fall semester.
