Spiritual Abilities Assessment The Catalyzer The Catalyzer plays by catalyzing and launching new ventures that broaden Christ's work, presence and Kingdom in our world. I am able to cast a vision for God endeavors that others want to be a part of. I relate to leaders who follow me in new God-ventures. The picture of Abraham pulling his tent pegs out of the ground and starting a new nation because God said so, inspires me. I naturally figure out where we need to go next. I welcome the possibility of risky ventures for God that present the possibility of failure. Reading about Paul wanting to bring the Gospel to Rome, Spain and places it had never been, inspires me. God s power has been manifested in the new God-endeavors I have initiated. Entrepreneurs are my heroes. I am easily bored with processes. I am stimulated by and interested in start-ups of any kind. The Strategizer The Strategizer ability plays through vision and strategies that promote and execute God's purposes in the world. I am highly motivated to set goals to achieve a vision that advances God s work. I usually have big ideas for God s work and see the big picture. I am often surprised by people s inability to solve problems. I am drawn to accomplished leaders. I love to set goals and direct people to accomplish them. I influence others to perform to the best of their abilities. The term ministry architect is one with which I identify. I identify with people like Nehemiah who lead great accomplishments and am glad their stories are in the Bible. I like to maximize resources and people. I can visualize a coming event, anticipate obstacles, and develop strategies to overcome them.

The Organizer The Organizer ability plays by organizing resources and people as efficiently as possible to achieve Kingdom goals and purposes. I am able to organize people with tasks to meet the needs of an event. I like to help groups become more efficient. I am a detail-oriented person. I want to bring order where there is organizational chaos. I cannot imagine a world without organized people like Joseph. I know what needs to be done to make dreams reality. I tend to be very specific about goals and objectives. I enjoy making decisions that allow for efficient process. I naturally want to get others involved so that more can be accomplished. I can identify and mobilize the resources necessary to accomplish certain tasks. The Adventurer The Adventurer ability plays by going out in faith with complete trust that God will deal with obstacles so that God's actions can be accomplished. I have confidence that God can do more than we can imagine, and love to hear It can t be done. I am drawn to the notion of serving in another country, culture or ethnicity. When I see God move, I move toward that activity in spite of opposition or lack of support. I do not shrink from unpredictable situations where I have to trust in God. I regularly challenge others to trust God. It is natural for me to believe in God for things that others see as impossible. The picture of Noah building a big boat in the middle of a desert because God said so is inspiring to me. I have an unwavering belief that God will bring success in circumstances where human effort alone is not enough. I cannot understand why people would ever want to be tied down in one place for a long time without being open to God s leading. I see the big picture and do not let problems stop me.

The Giver The Giver ability plays by redirecting their own resources to support and fund Kingdom ventures through extreme generosity. I give generously and joyfully to people and projects that require financial support. I manage my money well and give to ministries that are making a difference in the lives of people. I believe I have been given an abundance of resources so that I may support God s work on earth. When I read, They sold their lands or houses and gave the money to the apostles and it was distributed to the needy (Acts 4:35), I am fired up. I have the ability to make money to be channeled into Kingdom causes. When the Bible speaks of those with the ability to contribute to the needs of others (Romans 12:8), I understand. For special projects or campaigns I like to give in a way that others are inspired to give liberally. I desire anonymity and a low-profile. I joyfully choose to limit my lifestyle so that I can contribute a higher portion of my income. I recognize God s ownership of everything. The Reformer The Reformer ability plays by communicating messages from God that redirect the church and culture toward reformation and repentance, justice and mercy. When I see spiritual complacency, I am more than willing to challenge it. I like to use the arts to speak into culture s ills and injustices. My zeal for God s purposes is never really in question. If I could be anyone in the Bible it would be someone like Deborah, Isaiah or John the Baptizer. I cannot stay quiet about wrongs and injustices. If there is a way or means to communicate what God wants, I will find it. I am a person of deep conviction and strong passion about most things. I have been accused of being opinionated and a little weird. I find it easy to confront others motives when they are not up to God s standards. I can be judgmental and negative if I am not careful.

The Mercy-Giver The Mercy-Giver ability plays by extending compassion, care and love to those in our world who suffer physically, emotionally, materially or spiritually. I have great compassion for people who are hurting. I enjoy deep satisfaction in affirming the value and worth of others. I have a strong desire to help disadvantaged people experience restoration and recovery. I show my love for people in actions more than words. The Parable of the Good Samaritan is my favorite parable of Jesus. I am moved deeply with compassion and motivated to remove the sources of another s suffering. I could place the needs of others ahead of my own to my own demise if I am not careful. I love being in hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, orphanages and poor villages. I gravitate toward opportunities to impact others in need. Being the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need is a phrase with which I identify personally. The Recruiter The Recruiter ability plays by communicating the love of Christ with others so that they are drawn to follow Him and receive His grace as an eternal gift. I am able to relate to others in culturally relevant ways. I have the ability to communicate Christ s Gospel clearly, respectfully and passionately and have no problem doing so. I would rather be with non-christians than Christians so that I can build relationships with them. I identify with Jonah s journey of brokenness to usefulness. I want people to ask me about my faith and they are glad when they do. I rarely meet people I do not like and would not desire to see included in the church. I love un-churched and de-churched people no matter where they are in their journey. I am comfortable with different groups of people. My favorite words of Jesus may be Go and make disciples I find myself frequently thinking of ways to talk about spiritual matters with friends far from God.

The Helper The Helper ability plays by serving behind the scenes in tasks, designs and constructions that incarnate Christ and help others come to know Christ. I enjoy working creatively with materials like wood, cloth, paints, glass, etc. I am energized working behind the scenes to help the work of others. I am a resourceful person when it comes to finding the best materials and tools needed to build what is needed. I am drawn to characters in the Bible who are not famous but were critical to the story of God. I am skilled at working with my hands and energized by doing so. When a task needs to be done I find it difficult to say no. I am drawn to details. When I saw The Lord of the Rings I identified with Sam Gamgee s role. I like to find things that need to get done and do them with being asked. I experience the spiritual significance in doing practical tasks. The Welcomer The Welcomer ability plays by creating safe, warm and welcoming environments that reveal Jesus to our world. My home is considered a safe and comfortable place to serve others. I love social interaction and Christian community. I am glad the Bible speaks so much about the importance of preparations being made for people. Martha of Bethany and Martha Stewart are my heroes. I can make others feel at ease even in unfamiliar surroundings. I do whatever I can to make outsiders and visitors feel they belong. I look for people who may go unnoticed in a crowd. I am very tuned to the five senses and how they impact people. I see my home as God s place and as His tool. I naturally build deep friendships.

The Mentor The Mentor ability plays by caring for a group of Christ-followers and growing them to live like Jesus. I have built trust and confidence in long-term relationships. I am able to gently restore wandering believers to faith and community. I am energized when providing support, nurture and guidance to a group. I carefully and lovingly challenge and rebuke others in order to help them grow spiritually. I am energized by reading about Moses responsibility to care for Israel. I feel a responsibility to protect believers from the things that keep them from God and one another. I find it easy to put people ahead of projects. I connect with the shepherding imagery used by Jesus. I do not shrink back from challenging people to repentance. I can nurture the whole person in his or her walk with God. The Encourager The Encourager ability plays by inspiring others to reach for their God-given best through encouragement and empowerment. I enjoy bringing hope, joy, and comfort to people in crisis. I like motivating others to take steps toward spiritual growth. I want to inspire others to live like Jesus. I share stories of people who overcame tough times with God s help. I like to write notes or leave messages for people simply because it will boost them up. I see it as my task to lighten people s burdens and make Jesus Christ s power real to them. I naturally reassure those who need to take courageous action in their life. Barnabas is my hero and I want to be just like him. I celebrate with people who have succeeded in God-honoring endeavors. I like to make people smile with genuine comments and sincere words.

The Intercessor The Intercessor ability plays by passionately and courageously praying and risking for others and experiencing God s movement. I am honored and energized when asked to pray for someone with a need. I pray with great confidence because I know God answers and responds to prayer. God gives me a peace that my prayers are heard even when I cannot see the results. I see specific results in direct response to my prayers. I have been used by God to redirect people from spiritual dangers and direct them to spiritual opportunities. I would be willing to pay a high price to intercede for someone I love. I connect deeply with Samuel s intercession. Time is lost sometimes when I am in prayer and language transcends words. I respectfully share words and/or messages with others that God has given me while praying. When I hear about stressful situations I feel immediately burdened to pray. The Healer The Healer ability plays by restoring health in others who are sick and hurting by using spiritual and sometimes miraculous means to do so. I have seen healing happen as a result of my laying hands on someone and praying for them. I have experienced the power of God within me to cast out evil and heal the sick. I see what people can be with God s power active in their spirit and body. I fully believe Jesus touched people and they were healed and His Kingdom power is still available today. I am a strong believer in the power of medicinal touch. I view medicine as a means by which God may choose to heal others. I have witnessed God s supernatural intervention in nature. I can sense the spiritual needs of a person beneath their physical illness or disease. I frequently find myself praying that God would use me to heal others. I love the stories like Elisha healing the Shunammite woman s son and am drawn to similar ones in Scripture.

The Teacher The Teacher ability plays through clear and practical Scriptural instruction that is relevant and empowers people to live like Jesus. When I read Scripture important truths emerge that clearly apply to life today. I can easily be frustrated when I see people living without Scriptural knowledge. I am burdened by biblical insights and am not able to share as much as I take in. I love learning, studying and sharing what I have learned with others. I could read and study the Sermon on the Mount for the rest of my life. I naturally speak of Scripture in a way that causes people to say, I ve never thought of it that way. I could talk about the Bible forever and never get tired of it. I can imaginatively present biblical concepts to others in ways they can grasp and understand. People are motivated to grow when I teach Scripture. I can communicate Scripture in ways that cause others to learn and apply it. The Counselor The Counselor ability plays by giving godly advice and counseling people to help them make wise decisions that reflect the will and heart of God. There are people in my life that I am personally guiding with encouragement, caring and wisdom. I am able to strengthen, encourage and comfort God s people through biblical truth communicated in a culturally relevant manner. I identify with stories like Solomon deciding which of the two mothers are really the mother of the child. When a complex situation arises God reveals a biblically based solution to me. I feel a burden to be a steward wisely the truth and understanding I have been given. I am not impulsive with my observations about life and people and pray frequently for wisdom from above. Others have affirmed my insights and perceptions into their lives. I am able to give practical advice to help others through difficult and complicated situations. I like reading the book of Proverbs for its simplicity and practicality. I frequently have people come to me for advice and wisdom.
