St. Francis Xavier God Fashioned All Things For Good Page Three Several years ago, a school teacher assigned to visit children in a large city hospital received a routine call requesting that she visit a particular child. She took the boy's name and room number and was told by the teacher on the other end of the line, "We're studying nouns and adverbs in his class now." It wasn't until the visiting teacher got outside the boy's room that she realized it was located in the hospital's burn unit. No one had prepared her to find a young boy horribly burned and in great pain. She felt that she couldn't just turn and walk out, so she awkwardly stammered, "I'm the hospital teacher, and your teacher sent me to help you with nouns and adverbs." The next morning a nurse on the burn unit asked her, "What did you do to that boy?" Before she could finish a profusion of apologies, the nurse interrupted her: "You don't understand. We've been very worried about him, but ever since you were here yesterday, his whole attitude has changed. He's fighting back, responding to treatment... It's as though he's decided to live." The boy later explained that he had completely given up hope until he saw that teacher. It all changed when he came to a simple realization. With joyful tears he expressed it this way: "They wouldn't send a teacher to work on nouns and adverbs with a dying boy, would they?" Today we read about Jesus crossing again in the boat to the other side (Mark 5:21). Jairus the official left his house and crossed over to meet Jesus. A woman with an issue of hemorrhages had to cross the teeming crowd in order to reach Jesus. There may be hopelessness, fear, doubt or pride, but Jesus listens to us and this is the time to cross over to the side of Jesus in faith and trust in God. The crowd was always there with Jesus. They always found fault in Jesus as they say, You see how the crowd is pressing upon you, and yet you ask, Who touched me? or they ridiculed him when at the house of Jairus. We can never be like that. We cannot be people sitting on the fence to find fault, but have to cooperate with Jesus. Jairus cooperated with Jesus and his daughter got healed; the woman cooperated with Jesus and she was healed. This is what Jesus invites us for. Jesus crossed over the sea to the other side to receive the people. Like Jairus or the woman we too have to cross over to accept the Lord every time. Believe! He can do great things in our life. In faith join with Him. Today we are welcoming Fr. Sebastian. He is our God-given blessing. God has sent him to us that we will grow in Faith and cross over to Jesus with trust. Let us walk with Fr. Sebastian to reach Jesus. God has fashioned everything for our being and he rejoices in our good living. Thank you all in Love. Teach Children To Be Safe In The Water This Summer Drowning is the second leading cause of death for people ages 5-24. Families need to talk to their children about safe habits to use whenever they go to the pool or beach. Children should never go in the water if they don t know how to swim, and should never swim alone or without a lifeguard present. For parents, avoiding distractions is critical when supervising swimming children. For more tips, visit https:// www.nsc.org/home-safety/tools-resources/ seasonal-safety/drowning Welcome to St. Francis Xavier Parish! We invite you to become a member of our community!
