SWO NMI Newsletter September/October 2018 President's Workshop Saturday September 22 (9:30-12:00) Who Is Invited: Local NMI Presidents, local NMI Representatives from Churches who do not have a council, members of local NMI councils, Pastors, or anyone who would loves NMI. Note: This is NOT just for new Presidents When: Saturday, September 22 nd, from 9:30-12:00 noon Where: West Chester Nazarene Church in Hawks Hall Please let us know if you will be coming and how many from your church so we can be prepared. There will be no childcare. Here are some of the things that will be topics of discussion: Organizing your council meetings, planning, calendar, Updated reporting forms and methods Treasurer reports and how to report your funds and income accurately Work & Witness Mission education

DWIGHT AND CAROLYN RICH Fall Missionary Tour Dwight and Carolyn Rich have served the Church of the Nazarene as global missionaries since February 1984. They have spent their entire career living in Quito, Ecuador. Dwight grew up in Haiti as a missionary kid and Carolyn was raised in Neodesha, Kansas. Both are graduates of MidAmerica Nazarene University. Dwight is also a graduate of Nazarene Theological Seminary. They pastored in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for three years before being assigned as missionaries. Dwight served as the Field Strategy Coordinator for the South American, North Andean Field that comprises the countries of Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela. Carolyn served as the nurse for the Seminary in Quito, coordinated the Child Sponsorship Program, and has been the office administrator for the North Andean Field. The Riches have two children Bryan and Stefanie who are both married and live in Overland Park, KS. Two grandsons are now two and a half years old and a new grandson arrived on March 17, 2018. The Riches are now in their final year of furlough before retirement. Our Missionaries Michael & Cailyn Wheatley Michael & Cailyn Wheatley (our local missionaries in residence, and the luncheon speakers at the NMI convention) have been appointed as new Specialized Assignment Missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene on the Africa Special Field. They are available for speaking at your church, and need to do so to raise deputation and living funds for the next couple of years on the field. They have some availability for visiting churches or adult small groups in September, and October. The next time they expect to be on home assignment and available to present in churches is the summer of 2020. Just 30 miles south of Gatlinburg, Tennessee is the Cherokee Compassionate Ministry Center for the Church of the Nazarene on Cherokee reservation land. We have room for 45 participants this year and would love to have you join us, but sign up soon.

This is a great family opportunity as the price is right, only $600 for adults and $500 for teens for the entire week including housing, food and all activities. Your generosity in making these CCK s and SPP s is so appreciated. To make it easier and more economical for all of our SWO District churches we will be collecting all your boxes and transporting them to the Nazarene warehouse in Logan, Ohio. Please gather the following items in making a CCK or SPP. PLEASE only use the sizes that are listed. Please do not add any personal notes or shopping list in the kit. It is so important to adhere to these instructions to help all our CCK s and SPP s to pass through Customs and be able to help the people who really need them. Thank You CRISIS CARE KITS-Place into a 2 gallon zip lock bag: 1 medium size bottle shampoo (12/18 oz) Please tape top closed 2 bars of bath size soap 1 medium toothpaste (4.0-6.4) 3 toothbrushes (in original packaging) 1 finger nail clipper 1 sturdy comb (cannot accept more than 1) 2 hand towels 4 pocket size pkgs of Kleenex 1 Beanie Baby size stuffed toy 1 box band aids (30 or more) Place 6 of these kits in a Banana Box. Place a piece of cardboard inside the small opening that is in the TOP and BOTTOM of the box. Send a $12 check for each Banana Box payable to: Global Treasury Services, P.O. Box 843116 Kansas City, MO. 64184-3116 Print: ACM 1297 on the memo line. Place a label with your church s name/address on top of each banana box. SCHOOL PAL PAKS-Place into a 1 gallon zip lock bag: 2 composition notebooks, softbound, such as Mead 1 package of 10-12 pencils (#2) 1 package of 10-12 pens 2 pink erasers (2-3 inches long) 2 rulers (6 inch or 12 inch with metric) 1 pair of blunt nosed scissors 1 package of 12-15 colored pencils 1 hand held pencil sharpener

Place 10 SPP s in a 12x12 box. These can be purchased at office supply stores, UPS, or U-Haul. TAPE THE BOX CLOSED. Place a label with your church s name/address on top of each box. You will need to send a $10 check per box payable to: Global Treasury Services, P.O. Box 843116 Kansas City, MO. 64184-3116. Print: ACM 1788 on the memo line. One last reminder: Please send $3 per box payable to SWO NMI. Mail to: Mark Emerson 4716 Donham Dr. Middletown, Ohio 45042. This is used for transporting the boxes to the Logan warehouse, for the Logan warehouse to ship the boxes to locations where they will be picked up for distribution. Thank You! Please contact Paige Graves for more information on Links @paigemichele19@yahoo.com Global NMI Moments Children s Mission Education Mount Vernon Lakeholm, Ohio, USA church used the children s missions curriculum during their Wednesday night children s activities, sharing needs from around the world and how the Church of the Nazarene, through the World Evangelism Fund and Alabaster, is meeting those needs. During the church s

missions weekend, the children were actively involved. When the missionary shared the need for more Alabaster churches, because the church was growing so rapidly, the children jumped out of their chairs with excitement as they understood how each of us plays a vital part.
