Prelude Welcome Confession and Forgiveness (Please stand as you are able) P: Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God, who forgives all our sin, whose mercy endures forever. C: Amen. P: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. (Silence for reflection and self-examination) P: Gracious God, C: In your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. P: Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in Eternal life. C: Amen.

Greeting (from II Corinthians 13:13) P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. Kyrie (Cantor in italics, congregation joins in after) (from Psalm 123:3; Matthew 17:15; 20:30) 3

Prayer of the Day L: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. L: Sovereign God, you have created us to live in loving community with one another. Form us for life that is faithful and steadfast, and teach us to trust like little children, that we may reflect the image of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. C: Amen. Children s Sermon - THE WORD Kids Word (11am) - Kids approx. ages 4-8 can go and hear the Word through story, crafts & games. Please meet in back of sanctuary. Children return after sermon. First Reading Hebrews 1:1-4 1Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also created the worlds. 3 He is the reflection of God s glory and the exact imprint of God s very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. R: The word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Musical Meditation (8am) For the Beauty of the Earth (11am) Make Me a Channel of Your Peace Arr Rutter (Please stand as you are able for the Gospel Acclamation) 4

Gospel Acclamation sing twice (from John 6:68) R: The Holy Gospel According to St Mark the 10 th Chapter C: Glory to you, O Lord Gospel Mark 10:1-16 1He left that place and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan. And crowds again gathered around him; and, as was his custom, he again taught them. 2 Some Pharisees came, and to test [Jesus] they asked, Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife? 3 He answered them, What did Moses command you? 4 They said, Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her. 5 But Jesus said to them, Because of your hardness of heart he wrote this commandment for you. 6 But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. 7 For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. 10Then in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. 11 He said to them, Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; 12 and if she divorces her husband and 5

marries another, she commits adultery. 13People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them. 14 But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. 15 Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it. 16 And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them. R: The Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ. (Please be seated) Sermon (after a brief period of reflection, please stand for the hymn of the day) Pastor Bill 6

Hymn of the Day Borning Cry ELW 732 Used by permission One License # A724086 7

Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Prayers of the Church P: Lord in Your Mercy, C: Hear our prayer. THE MEAL Sharing of the Peace P: The peace of the Lord be with you always. C: And also with you. (Please be seated) Community Time-During this time we would like to welcome and introduce guests at SLC. God of mercy and grace, C: We offer with joy and thanksgiving, what you have first given us our selves, our time, and our possessions, signs of your gracious love. Receive them for the sake of Him, who offered himself for us. Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. The Great Thanksgiving P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give God thanks and praise. P: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy...we praise your name and join their unending hymn: 9

Sing 3 times (from Isaiah 6:3; Matthew 21:9; Mark 11:9; John 12:13) Words of Institution The Lord s Prayer (All) Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. Communion Distribution-All Baptized Christians are welcome to join with us in this meal where we believe the true body and blood of Christ are really present and received under the form of bread and wine. At SLC, we commune by Intinction. As you are ushered forward, please come to the stations on either side of the Baptismal font, extend your hand to receive the bread (or ask for a gluten free wafer), and then dip it either into the wine or grape juice. White grape juice is available as a substitute and is offered in the second cup. You are also invited to remain at the altar rail for a brief time of prayer and meditation if you wish. Adults who do not receive the supper or children who have not received First Communion instruction are encouraged to come forward for a blessing.
