PCA Eagle s Nest News 21890 US Hwy 34 Princeton, IL 61356 815-875-2933 princetonchristianacademy@yahoo.com www.princetonchristianacademy.org November 6, 2018 THINGS TO NOTE... Thank you to Miss Beverly and all the work she put into our Christmas Sale! It was a big success and the children had such a great time picking out those special gifts for their family. Thank you also to everyone who donated items! Reminder that school PICTURE RE-TAKES are tomorrow, Wednesday, November 7th. December lunch menus are going home tomorrow and due back next Wednesday, November 14th! Operation Christmas Child: Hopefully your family has started or will be working on a shoebox for a child overseas. It s such a blessing to give to a child in need and to be able to involve our own children and teach them about sharing our abundance with others. Please turn-in your shoeboxes by this Friday, November 9th. Many classrooms are doing shoeboxes together. Please check with your student s teacher if donations are needed. Thank you for giving and please pray for the families who will be touched by these gifts and more importantly, will have the gospel of Christ shared with them! Many of you know Kirsten Wolbrecht and her family as they were a big part of PCA for many years. The family moved to the state of Washington last year and is now facing a very difficult time as Kirsten has been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. It is a very aggressive form of breast cancer and she is currently receiving heavy chemo treatments. Kirsten and the family could use encouragement and words of truth right now. If you would like to send a note, the address is: 19002 68th St. E, Bonney Lake, WA 98391. It would be great to have your kids write a note as well or draw a picture for Kirsten. That would bless her so much! Please keep praying for this dear family. From Mr. Odell s desk: (God s Word given to teachers each week and we want to share with you, also!) Ephesians 3:14-19 14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 From whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Spiritual power is the mark of every genuine believer in Christ who submits to God s Word and allows the person of the Holy Spirit to reveal and teach Truth to us. True spirituality is allowing God to do within and through us what is not natural to us as humans broken by the fall. The ongoing and loving work of the Holy Spirit is to energize, revitalize and empower the committed believer. The call from God is to love Him with a self-giving, serving love for God and His people. To be sure this kind of love only can be produced by our Father and will drive us to even more comprehend with all the saints.the love of Christ. The result will be believers who are spiritual magnets all for the glory of God. Sunday, November 11th Thank you to those who have served and fought for our freedoms. TEACHER S NOTES FOR YOU! Faith and trust in God can give us courage and help us in times of need. David loved God s word and in Psalm he shows his praise and repentance. He talked with God for wisdom. David was a man after God s own heart. Children and adults have giants to face just like David and God is there to help us. Memory Verse is So do not fear, for I am with you... Isaiah 41: 10a This week in Phonics the letters W, w and V, v will be introduced for recognition, sound and blends as we continue to read letters, sounds, blends and words. We will make sentences with our word cards, reviewing our rules for a sentence. Every sentence begins with a capital letter and most sentences end in a period. Sentences are usually made up of more than one word. Word end sounds will be identified and the students will choose the correct letter to complete a word. Wow! We are reading sentences. The double consonant rule will be reviewed with a song. If a word ends in c and k or a double consonant, you say the sound just once. We are making a book of the sentences we read and illustrate. The new letters and reviewed letters will be written in Handwriting. The boys and girls are carefully writing their letters and producing beautiful handwriting. Take a look at our wall outside our room for best choices to represent their handwriting. In Social Studies we will continue America, Our Great Nation. In Numbers our store will be open again for purchases counting out the right amount of pennies that the price tag says. We have introduced the 30 and 40 families will be introduced. BOTH classes are working on the essay mentioned in the sixth grade history section. 7th graders are working more independently, and will be expected to make excellent word choices and keep it grammatically clean. It is a short 250-300 word essay. A Note from Mrs. Marshall... Welcome to November! Can you believe our music festival was three weeks ago? We now have only five (5) rehearsals until our Christmas concert! All band students will play on Friday 12/14/18 at 6:30 pm. Call time is 6:00 pm. It is crucial that your musicians bring their music, a sharpened pencil, instrument and the accessories they need to play every Tuesday. We only meet once a week, so our time is precious and vital to our band being successful, all for His glory! Advanced Band students have a concert report due this quarter. They received the details and report forms during rehearsal last week. They will need to attend a live instrumental concert to complete this assignment. I sent home a concert sheet today. Please ask them about this assignment and feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you all for your help and support!
