WALK TO EMMAUS Music Continued from previous page Let s be honest. Who would not love to have days without family, TV, clocks, computers and telephones? Instead, have seventy-two hours of wonderful meals, lots of time to meet new friends, seeking and singing praises to God s amazing grace. Two years ago I had the opportunity to attend the Walk to Emmaus. At first I was apprehensive, but it turned out to be one of the greatest experiences of my life. The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. It is a seventytwo hour short course in Christianity. The Walk is comprised of fifteen talks by lay and clergy on the themes of God s grace, disciplines of Christian discipleship and what it means to be the church. Sunday, December 13, 8:30am Worship Service join in singing contemporary Christian music The King is Coming and Still Her Little Child with the Music Team. At 11:00 Worship, Grace Notes Handbell Choir will be sharing special music as they provide the accompaniment for the Choir anthem German Carol Medley and join with organist, Ellen McCord for a rendition of How Great Our Joy! The speakers were amazing and it was so encouraging to hear how God had worked in the lives of real people through their pain, brokenness and victories. The Upper Room of the United Methodist Church sponsors the Walk to Emmaus and offers it through local Emmaus groups around the world. It is open to all denominations. I realize how grateful I am to be a part of a loving and caring church. I love my church! De Colores, Mark Beauchamp P.S. Walk to Emmaus (Without tennis shoes) Give me a call: 919-610-5306

CREW Christmas Project On our mission trip to Asheville last summer, the CREW toured The Haywood Street Respite Center. This is a place where people recovering from a hospital stay can live for a few weeks so they are not recovering on the street. We are planning a trip to visit them in December and want to bring them supplies. We will be collecting the following to take with us: Full size shampoo and conditioner New socks and underwear Ground, non flavored coffee Clorox wipes Community Christmas Dinner If you would like to contribute any of these items, please place them under the Christmas tree in the fellowship hall by December 27th. Our church is hosting a Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. We will be providing a meal for those in the community between 5:00-6:00 pm. If you would like to donate items for this dinner, sign up sheets are posted on the Mission bulletin board outside the Choir room. Mystery Dinner Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 27th for the CREW s Mystery Dinner. Enjoy a night of fine dining and intrigue as you try and solve the clues that will lead you to a priceless treasure. Tickets go on sale January 3rd and are $25 each. Price includes childcare.
