My Faith Looks Up to Thee My faith looks up to Thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray, Take all my guilt away, O let me from this day Be wholly Thine! May Thy rich grace impart Strength to my fainting heart, My zeal inspire; as Thou hast died for me, O may my love to Thee Pure, warm, and changeless be, A living fire! While life s dark maze I tread And griefs around me spread, Be Thou my guide; Bid darkness turn to day, Wipe sorrow s tears away, Nor let me ever stray From Thee aside. When ends life s passing dream, When death s cold, threatening stream Shall o er me roll, Blest Savior, then, in love, Fear and distrust remove; O lift me safe above, A ransomed soul! I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord I love Thy kingdom, Lord, The house of Thine abode, The Church our blest Redeemer saved With His own precious blood. I love Thy Church, O God! Her walls before Thee stand, Dear as the apple of Thine eye, And graven on Thy hand. For her my tears shall fall; For her my prayers ascend; To her my cares and toils be giv n, Till toils and cares shall end. Beyond my highest joy I prize her heav nly ways, Her sweet communion, solemn vows, Her hymns of love and praise. Sure as Thy truth shall last, To Zion shall be giv n The brightest glories earth can yield, And brighter bliss of heav n. Romans 6:12-23 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! Don t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Word of the Lord: Thanks be to God!
