Acts 2:1-21 New International Version (NIV) When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: Aren t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues! Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, What does this mean? Some, however, made fun of them and said, They have had too much wine. Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but Thou art mighty; Hold me with Thy pow'rful hand; Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more, Feed me till I want no more. Open Thou the crystal fountain, Whence the healing stream doth flow; Let the fire and cloudy pillar Lead me all my journey through; Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer, Be Thou still my strength and shield, Be Thou still my strength and shield. When I tread the verge of Jordan, Bid my anxious fears subside; Bear me through the welling current, Land me safe on Canaan's side; Songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever give to Thee, I will ever give to Thee, John Hughes Peter Williams William Williams W ords: Public Domain Music: Public Domain CCLI License # 563168 The Word of the Lord: Thanks be to God!

Pentecostal Power Lord, as of old, at Pentecost, Thou didst Thy power display, With cleansing, purifying flame, Descend on us today. Refrain: Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power! Thy floodgates of blessing, on us throw open wide! Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power! That sinners be converted and Thy Name glorified! All self consume, all sin destroy! With earnest zeal endue Each waiting heart to work for Thee; O Lord, our faith renew! Refrain: Speak, Lord! Before Thy throne we wait, Thy promise we believe, And will not let Thee go until The blessing we receive. Refrain: Words & music written by Charles H. Gabriel, first published in Great Revival Hymns No. 2, 1912. Public Domain Holy Spirit, Light Divine Holy Spirit, Light divine, Shine upon this heart of mine. Chase the shades of night away; Turn my darkness into day. Holy Spirit, Pow r divine, Cleanse this guilty heart of mine. Long hath sin without control Held dominion o'er my soul. Holy Spirit, Joy divine, Cheer this saddened heart of mine. Bid my many woes depart; Heal my wounded, bleeding heart. Holy Spirit, all divine, Dwell within this heart of mine. Cast down every idol throne; Reign supreme, and reign alone. Andrew Reed Louis Moreau Gottschalk W ords: Public Domain Music: Public Domain CCLI License # 563168
