Education Corner Into the Word: Fall Quarter September 2018 Beginnings Our Fall Quarter will take us through a study of the Creation. Critics often begin their attacks on the Bible with the book of Genesis. In their minds, if they can discredit the bible from the beginning, the rest of the word would be undetermined. Because of these attitudes our study from the book of Genesis is paramount. Unit 1 is entitled The Beginning of the World. Lesson 1 describes the first three days of Creation. This includes light, day and night, the firmament, the appearance of dry land, and vegetation. Lesson 2 covers the creation of sun, moon and stars; fish and fowl; and land creatures on days four through six. Lesson 3 is a study of the creation of people and the establishment of the seventh day as a day of rest. We will move into Unit 2 which is entitled The Beginning of Human History. Lesson 4 is the first lesson in this unit and focuses on the preparation of the Garden of Eden as Adam s dwelling place. Lesson 5 describes Adam s placement in that garden and the creation of Eve to be his helper. It also establishes the beginning of marriage. As we study these lessons we recognize that the question of our origin and purpose in existence has perplexed mankind from the beginning of time; however, our Creator has simply and definitively stated the facts and gave no explanation. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1
