JUNE 21, 2015 PAGE 2 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK 2015 My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, May I take this opportunity to wish all of our fathers, godfathers, grandfathers and foster fathers a very Happy Father s Day. I pray that it will be a day of many blessings for you as your family thanks you for the blessings that you are in their lives. If your special person is living out of town or in a nursing home, please be sure to pay them a call or visit. If they have since passed away, perhaps a visit to the cemetery might be a wonderful way to honor them. To our Fathers: Be the role model that you are called to be in your family. Ask St. Joseph to be your exemplar and your intercessor. As I take this time to remember our Fathers, we take a moment to commend the soul of Fr. Lenny Zamborsky to the Lord. He has been a tremendous spiritual father to so many during his time at St. Louis and St. Margaret Mary Parishes. Please keep Father and his family in your prayers. Please see the information elsewhere in the bulletin for his funeral information. May God s blessings be yours this Father s Day. Father Ireland Mark the calendar and join your fellow parishioners. These events offer opportunities for involvement and the making of new friends (or putting names to faces you recognize): June 27 July 11 July 18 & 25 St. Joseph the Worker, pray for us. Please mark your calendar for either Saturday July 18 or July 25 to help our Parish for a few hours. EVEN BETTER MAKE A COMMITMENT FOR BOTH DAYS. Each day begins at 9 o clock with coffee and donuts. Stay as long as you are able. Our Maintenance Staff is compiling a list of projects that need to be completed during the summer months. Generally they will involve, cleaning, repainting walls, touch-up for exterior doors, window washing, and handy man (or woman) type fix-it jobs. This shout-out is for men, women and teens. The benefit to the parish is obvious; but the benefit to you personally is in the feel good reward of giving back. Can we count you in?? JUNE 21, 2015 PAGE 6 Rock the Block A Recap by Deacon Dave Chordas What a great day for our Parish and for South Euclid. The Rock the Block street fair was a huge success. I personally enjoyed seeing so many of our parishoners enjoying the street fair. The food was very good, and so many friendships were renewed as we gathered there. I would like to thank DeJohn Funeral Homes for donating 18 cases of water to be passed out free and Fioritto Funeral Home for its donation of Holy Cards and St. Anthony key chains that were given away. The Third Order of Franciscans donated 200 Rosaries that were given to many individuals with directions on how to pray the Rosary. Many of our other Christian friends were very interested in them. Thank you, too, to Mrs. Terri Baldwin, director of the Diocesan Office of Evangelization for many hours spent with us, for her advice and for materials which helped make our day a great success. We especially liked the prize wheel that attracted many children and their parents who not only won a prize or two donated by the Diocese, but also listened as we talked about the love of Jesus and our pre-school and Academy. Words cannot express my gratitude for the hard work of the Evangelization Committee: Ed and Kay Winters, Jennifer Yowler, Tom Kelly, and Dave Douglas. Thank you to these parishioners who assisted the Committee at the booth: Jeff & Kim Berlin and their sons, Nick and Joe; Eileen Gerome, Tom and Carol Wenzel, Larry Chase, Tom Valenta, Chuck Yowler, the Maintenance Department, the Academy Principal, Bill DiBacco, and Academy faculty members Angela Kane and Marilyn Freas. Special thanks to Roger Gibson and John Dittoe who spent a couple of hours assembling a tent borrowed from St. Mary Magdalene Parish. They both worked at the booth also. Last but not least I wish to thank my wonderful wife, Marianne, who is always at my side to support me in these kinds of volunteer activities. I hope this is just the beginning of our opportunities for outreach and community-building within the City of South Euclid. If anyone wishes to join the Evangelization Committee, please call the Parish Office (216.382.7601) and leave a message for me. I can also be reached on my mobile phone: 216.598.3351.
