OUR AFFIRMATION OF FAITH I believe in God, the maker of Heaven and Earth, the ruler and preserver of our lives. I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, my Lord, and Savior. I believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeded from the Father and Son, who is the giver of life. I believe in the Bible, the Universal Church, Holy Baptism, and the Lord s Supper. I believe in the Resurrection of the dead and life in the world to come. RESPONSIVE READING He Is Risen Matthews 28:1-10 (NKJV) LEADER: 28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. CONGREGATION: 2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. LEADER: 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. 5 The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. CONGREGATION: 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. LEADER: 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. Now I have told you. CONGREGATION: 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. LEADER: 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. Greetings, he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. ALL: 10 Then Jesus said to them, Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me. LEADER: The Word of God, for the People of God. ALL: THANKS BE TO GOD! BENEDICTION Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow; Praise Him, All Creatures Here Below; Praise Him Above, Ye Heavenly Host Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen Our Mission The Mount Vernon Baptist Church- Westwood exists to honor God in all that we do, proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and live by the power of the Holy Spirit.

*EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 16, 2017* CATCH THE VISION, FULFILL THE MISSION, MAKE THE TRANSITION MT. VERNON BAPTIST CHURCH-WESTWOOD A PLACE WHERE JESUS IS LORD, EVERYONE IS LOVED, AND NO ONE STANDS ALONE A CHURCH REVITALIZATION MOMENT The Easter season gives great opportunity for evangelism. The Lord wants Christians to share the gospel with the world. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the key component to the good news of Jesus Christ. Without the resurrection, the gospel is incomplete. It is the duty of all Christians to share the gospel of Jesus Christ at work, school, home, and in the community. Jesus said in Mark 16:15 "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Every member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church must commit to tell others about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Be a witness.
