BAPTISM CLASS We are starting something new here at Lindenwood. We will be offering a Baptism class for adults on Sunday, May 18, in room 202 at 12:15. This will be a class offered bi-monthly for those interested in learning more about the sacrament of Baptism. The class will be taught by Rev. Morgan Parks and will be a teaching, discussion time with no pressure to be baptized. A Youth and children's version will be offered at the same time upstairs in the second floor children's area that will be taught by David Johnson, director of children's Ministry and Wilson Clark, Youth Director. We are also now implementing Baptism Sundays, specifically for Baptisms. We will Baptize people on any Sunday but these will be set up specifically to offer Baptism on that day. The first Baptism Sunday is June 8, and will be every other month. To sign up for the classes, either youth or adult, or to schedule a Baptism on June 8, contact Rev. Morgan Parks at morgan7560@aol.com or contact Carol at 458-8506.

Life Group Leader Training Research has proven that one of the elements in a Christian s life that come together to ensure consistent spiritual growth is participation in a healthy small group. A group that promotes spiritual growth consistently practices the following disciplines: Worship Discipleship (Study) Fellowship (Connecting with others at a deep level) Evangelism Outreach/Missions These small groups are often called Life Groups because they are all about helping the growing Christian discover how to live life and grow in the Christian life. Some small groups gather around a shared activity or interest. Other small groups just meet for food and fellowship. Others, Bible study groups, meet to study and discuss the Bible. Life groups do these things and more. The group is designed to best facilitate the individual s and the group s spiritual journey. It is our plan to offer at Lindenwood enough Life Groups that anyone interested in being a part of such a group will have that opportunity. The maximum desired group size is about twelve people. So, we are going to have to prepare to provide several groups. Thus we need to have several group leaders. Toward this end, the Discipleship Team will be offering Life Group Leader Training over the next few weeks. The training will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm until 9:00 pm, May 13 th August 5 th. MELIORIST For our next Meliorist adventure we have been invited to The Heritage at Irene Woods on Thursday May 15. Rev. Patt Hardaway has invited our group for a tour of the facility and to have lunch. This is a beautiful senior housing development and Patt wants the Meliorist to see just how wonderful it is. We will leave Lindenwood at 10:00 am or you can meet us out there. The address is 4580 Forest Hill Irene Road. Please make reservations by calling Carol Smith at 458-8506. One need not be a Biblical scholar to qualify. We are looking for people who can organize and lead a group in a timely manner, prepare a weekly lesson and facilitate group discussions. You don t need to have all the answers but need to be able to help the group seek answers. If you are interested in taking this training or have any questions, please contact Dr. McConnell at bill.mcconnell@lindenwood.net. The classes are starting soon so please sign up as soon as possible.

DR. BILL MCCONNELL S BLOG Go to revdrbill.blogspot.com to read Dr. Bill's Blog. May you be blessed today Blessed in a way that brings God s presence closer than you have ever known it. PRAYERS FOR OUR CHURCH The Lindenwood Sanctuary will be open each Wednesday, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm for those who wish to come in and pray for our ministries, ministers and worship services. This is a comeand-go style, quiet and contemplative time to lift up prayers on behalf of Lindenwood. Have a seat in the sanctuary and lift up your heart in prayer. If you are unable to come to the sanctuary for prayer, please keep our ministers and worship services in your personal prayers. CLASS 201 Discovering Spiritual Maturity Sunday, June 1 12:15 pm One of the first things one hears when entering the Christian life is that we should grow spiritually. Most of us are willing to do that if we just knew how. Unfortunately, most of us are encouraged to grow spiritually but we are never told how to do that. Class 201 is a class that can help you develop a plan for spiritual growth. Spiritual growth is a process that we can enter into though what we do. Spiritual growth and maturity is very much like natural growth and maturity. It takes some time and some effort and a plan. The Scriptures speak of spiritual maturity: that you may become mature Christians and may fulfill God s will for you. (Colossians 4:12b) We are not meant to remain as children but to grow up in every way into Christ (Ephesians 4:14-15) Spiritual Maturity could be defined as becoming conformed to the image of Christ. For from the very beginning God decided that those who came to him should become like his Son (Romans 8:29) (Jesus) If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. (Luke 9:23) Come to Class 201 and join us on the exciting journey toward spiritual maturity and grow closer to God. Sign up on the bulletin or call the church office at 458-8506.
