( D i s c i p l e s o f C h r i s t ) ARCC NEWS January 31, 2018 Volume 43, Issue 5 573.335.3422 www.abbeyroadchristianchurch.com Notes from the Road God is still speaking! Another of those ways, random as it can seem, difficult of discernment, is in chance and circumstance. I have sometimes battered stubbornly at closed doors, convinced that the path to God s will lay through them, to find that a door in another direction sprang open. And, across the threshold, blessing unfolded. Does God speak through such synchronicity? Faith decides. What I m listening to: As I said at the end of yesterday s sermon, I m currently captured by Mavis Staples Action, ( https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtjfzi_zfbi ). Praise God from whom Grandmothers flow. Doug Disciples Fast Track: New Testament On Sunday, February 4, the Fast Track class will meet in the Green Room to discuss Paul s letter to the Galatians. Please come! FAT TUESDAY Valentine MARDI GRAS Join us on Tuesday, February 13, at 5:30pm to celebrate our LOVE of good food, our LOVE of fun, and our LOVE of good fellowship as we combine Valentine s Day & Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday)! We ll enjoy BBQ ribs by Billy Bess and a trivia contest. Wear your beads with your best red outfit and bring a dish to share. So that Billy has some idea of how many to prepare for, please let us know if you plan to attend! This event is always lots of fun! Hope to see you there! Wanted: New Names on the Worship Schedule The March worship schedule is up and awaiting your signatures. We are grateful for those who faithfully sign up each month to fill the positions needed to ensure that worship service runs smoothly. If you have not served before, you are encouraged to sign up & give it a try! We especially need people willing to prepare communion. People are on hand to give instructions for any of the positions needing to be filled. Don t be shy! Call the church office or Helen Tilley if you d like to serve in some capacity, but would feel more comfortable with some guidance & we ll see to it that you get the help you want. Dear Church Friends, I want to thank everyone for their prayers, e-mails, cards & phone calls during my recent illness & hospitalization. Also thanks to Pastor Doug for calls he made to my family. I hope I will be back to church soon. May God bless all of you, Jean Dinwiddie SPRING GARAGE SALE! SAVE YOUR STUFF
