The Monthly Messenger A Note From The Pastor... WOW!!! Sooo much to be thankful for this year Where do we begin??? We were sooo blessed by God to be able to see the youth share their gifts and talents and abilities they ve been given for the Youth Worship Service. ALL the thanks belongs to God. However, I want to thank everyone for making themselves available and making Youth Sunday such an AWESOME worship experience. I thank God for bringing us all together through the inspiration and direction and power of the Holy Spirit. The youth were truly blessed to be a blessing and God blessed their faithfulness. The last Sunday of October it was all hands on deck to share the stories of God s Word through Bible booths during the community trick or treat time. Over 100 children, youth and adults enjoyed the warmth and fellowship and radical hospitality provided by those who served to tell the stories and help with each Bible booth activity station. I was overwhelmed by the cooperation I experienced that day Many hands make light work and God used us to share many Bible lessons with the community Paulette and I also want to say thank you for the various gifts we Dalton United Methodist Church NOVEMBER 2017 received during Pastor Appreciation month By the time you read this, I will have added one more thanksgiving to the list. Church/ charge conference will have occurred and for that I am always thankful. There are sooo many blessings the Lord gives us that we can be thankful for during this month of Thanksgiving and we actually need to be thankful for all God gives us all year long God Bless, Pastor Dave

News from the United Methodist Women The UMW will be finishing the year with a flourish. On SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5 FOLLOWING THE CHURCH SERVICE WILL BE THE THANKSGIVING MEAL. PLEASE BRING YOUR TABLE SERVICE AND A DISH TO ROUND OUT THE MEAL. The items being provided will be the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls and butter. Hope you all are planning on coming to make it a special day to share with your church family. Before long the ANGEL TREE will be showing up outside the church office. Be on the close look out. The Angel Tree is a mission project of the UMW through the Salvation Army. The purpose is to provide a joyful Christmas for a needy family. When the tree arrives, take a gift card, buy the gift and return the unwrapped gift placing it under the tree by the due date. It is a wonderful feeling to give to others so they have a very Merry Christmas. The last thing this year of course is THE COOKIE WALK, BAKE SALE, AND LUNCHEON ON DECEMBER 2 FROM 9:00 TO 2:00. The most important thing is to have plenty of cookies to sell, twelve dozen cookies or as many as you can make would be great. Any baked items for the bake sale would be appreciated also. Some suggestions for the bake sale could be loaves of bread, rolls, brownies or cake. Maybe you have some great ideas, too. Don t forget to come and bring your family and friends for lunch. I am sure that would be much more fun enjoying a delicious lunch together at the church than cooking and doing dishes. Let s make this the best event for the UMW ever! For many years the UMW have been providing the Upper Room for a daily devotional guide which you will find on the table at the entrance to the sanctuary. Please feel free to take one for yourself or another to share with someone. A suggested donation of $1.00 for the smaller print and $2.00 for the larger print would be appreciated by not necessary. Rose Ann Stark has been doing missionary work of her own by visiting with people at Shady Lawn and delivering a copy of the Upper Room to them. I know the people she visits look forward to seeing her and having the Upper Room. The UMW would like to thank you so much, RoseAnn, for sharing God s word and Christian fellowship with some of the residents of Shady Lawn. If you know of someone who would appreciate a copy, please take a copy to them. The important thing is getting the Upper Room to people who would like receiving God s words through the inspirational messages in the booklet and a visit from someone. On Saturday, October 28 the UMW heard a very inspiring message from Kristel Stone which she told us the most important thing in life is sharing the gospel. Kristel came to tell us about Operation Christmas Child. You could tell how she has dedicated her time, heart, and soul to this worthy cause. Operation Christmas Child is a mission project through Samaritans Purse for which boxes are packed with items for children and distributed all over the world. All year Becky Jones has items listed each month in the bulletin Page 6 The Monthly Messenger
and newsletter to donate to this cause. If you haven t donated in the past consider doing so next year. The UMW brought wash cloths and bars of soap for the Christmas boxes. Kristel explained how she got started helping with this project and how it has grown over the years. She has even cleaned out the old barn on their farm to be able to store items all year and then pack the boxes in November. The packing date for this year is November 18 at 10:00. The address is 8646 River Styx Road, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281. The goal this year is to pack 2000 boxes! Everyone is welcome to come and help pack the boxes. Another way to help is with financial contributions to Samaritans Purse for shipping costs. The UMW gave a donation of $200.00 for this cause. Kristel really appreciated the gift. If you would like to help or give a donation, contact Becky Jones. Any way you can help I know would be greatly appreciated. Kristel also mentioned about her family which are serving as missionaries and are trying to stop human trafficking. I told you about them in earlier newsletters and they are there now serving. Becky Jones had devotions for the morning and she told us how to be a Superwoman in God. She pointed out to us to watch what you say, walk by faith and have super strength breathe. We may not be super women but we can deliver God s word and live a life of Christ and become SUPERWOMEN! Becky and Kristel Stone showed us what it is to be a true Superwoman. At the meeting Sharon Starling, treasurer, reported the quarts and pints of soup which were left after giving to the shut- ins were sold for $217.00. This was one way that made it possible for the UMW to be able to give to the Samaritans Purse. Also at the meeting Carol Farriss and Bess Treisch said they would help RoseAnn Stark on the nominations committee for finding the year 2018 UMW officers. A few weeks ago Allene Weibel was leading the Wednesday morning Bible study. Allene had a special treat for us. On the chalkboard she had two words with bible verses to go with each word. The first was humble and the verse to go with it was Luke 14:11 which states: For everyone who tries to honor himself shall be humbled; and he who humbles himself shall be honored. The second word was kind and the verse with it was Ephesians 4:32 which states: Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving on another, just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ. To go along with these words and verses Allene played a song by Tim McGraw titled HUMBLE AND KIND. I asked Allene if I could share the words of the song with you. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3 NIV) Issue 11 Page 7
