CARSON VALLEY FOOTPRINTER The President s Message I am sorry I couldn t join you for our August meeting. I had a family wedding in Petaluma. Thank you, Claudia Lowe, for filling in for me and doing a superb job. Thank you Celeste, for bringing us another great guest speaker, Sandy Wartgow, RN. I understand PAT SMITH our speaker was very interesting and shared some valuable information. We are so fortunate to have such talented and knowledgeable people willing to come to our meetings. I think I have every immunization I need but you never know!! For our new members, we have a tradition of honoring an employee, selected by his/ her agency, for their dedicated and sustained professional service. Each year, the quarterly presentations are awarded to an employee from Douglas County SO in August, Carson City SO in November, East Fork Fire in February, and Carson City Fire in May. This is one of my favorite things our club does. At our August meeting, the Special Recognition Award went to Reserve Deputy Bill Addington of the Douglas County Sheriff s Department. Congratulations and thank you for all you do for our community. It is such a privilege to do this and although I couldn t be there, I know Ron did a great job with this presentation. I am so happy to see our temperatures are going down a bit. Our mornings and evenings are getting cooler and by our next meeting in September we should have perfect weather for our visit to Kids and Horses. It will be at the ranch off Stephanie Lane and we are in for quite a treat. This is a bit different than our regular venues, but I believe most of you will enjoy seeing what this wonderful group does. We will also have dinner and, of course, our Pot of Gold drawing. Please let our new Secretary/Treasurer, Peggy Frick, know if you can be there. Our 1 st Vice President, Bill Peters will have more on this in his message. I will definitely be there, and I hope you will be too. Pat!1

Did you know you could submit your reservation via our IFA website?? VISIT WWW.CVFOOTPRINT.ORG!2

From the 1st Vice President From the 2nd Vice President BILL PETERS Hello my fellow Footprinters, First off I d like to begin by thanking Don McRoberts for taking the photos and Celeste Pierini for talking about our next venue, since I was unable to make the last meeting. I am excited about our next meeting in September. It s at the Kids and Horses, 2869 Esaw Street, Minden, NV 89423 (775) 267-1775. There s a map that Don McRoberts provided on the Footprinters Chapter 72 website if you need further directions. I understand a map and directions were passed out at the last meeting, so hopefully everyone will know how to get to the event. It s a great organization that is doing great things with kids, and I hope everyone comes out to support this event. Price is $21.00 and we are still going to have the Pot of Gold raffle, so bring your gifts. See you all there, Bill Hello, I hope you all enjoyed our most recent meeting at the Carson City CELESTE PIERINI Nugget. Our speaker, Sandy Wartgow is a wealth of knowledge and is professional through and through. I am proud to say that I have worked along side her! *Remember: The quadravalent flu vaccine (the one with 4 strains) is the best* Next month, our speaker will be more of an experience. We will dine on some good cowboy fare while the owners of Kids and Horses discuss their amazing work! I can t wait for this one, and I hope to see many of you there. Driving Directions: 2869 Esaw Street, Minden from Gardnerville/Minden, drive North towards Carson City. Turn Right onto Stephanie Way. Turn Left o n t o E s a w Street (it is a long way down Stephanie, so just keep going!). The destination will be on the Right hand side. Thank you for attending our last meeting. I certainly look forward to seeing everyone at our gatherings and I hope you are enjoying yourselves! See you soon Buckaroos! Celeste!3

From the Secretary - Treasurer PEGGY FRICK It was a pleasure seeing Sheriff Pierini present the quarterly Service Recognition Plaque to Reserve Deputy Sheriff Bill Addington of the Douglas County Sheriff s Office for his exceptional Volunteer Service. On behalf of the Douglas County Sheriff s Office, Sheriff Pierini also took a moment to recognize Footprinters for all of the donations made to the office over the years. Our guest speaker Sandy Wartgow, a public health nurse for the Carson City Fire Department, spoke about influenza, its types, seasons, and the vaccines used to combat it. Those of us 65 and over should get the high dose of the vaccine. Our September 20th gathering should be great fun as we meet for dinner at Kids and Horses, a facility that works with kids with disabilities. Please don t forget to send me your reservation by Thursday, September 13th! Thank you to Ray Hoyt for pitching in and taking over the check in for me. I was out having shoulder surgery. See you in September, Peggy Join us on September 20th at 5:30 PM Kids and Horses 2869 Esaw Street Johnson Lane Minden RSVP by Thursday, September 13th at noon to Peggy Frick 775.783.8878 IFA.Peggy@gmail.com OR BETTER YET visit www.cvfootprint.org!4
