Vol. 58, Num. 34 September 30, 2018 NOT AGAINST US Like Moses before him, Jesus corrects his disciples misunderstanding of the gift of the Spirit. They saw people who were not of their company casting out demons and doing other works such as Jesus had done. Jesus points out that no one who does a good deed in his name can be opposed to him at the same time. He goes on to point out the importance of the little ones, : the poor, simple people, children, the meek ones who are not important in the world. It is to them that he was sent, not to the wealthy and the self-righteous. He underscores the importance of small works done in faith, as well as big works like driving out demons. Anyone who gives you a cup of water... because you belong to Christ... will surely not lose his reward (Mark 9:41). CHRISTOPHER OUTREACH HELP LINE Thanks to our parishioners and summer camp we were able to get through the summer with enough food for about 30 boxes a month for June, July and August. Whatever foods we are short of, we purchase with funds from the St. Anthony Poor Box. We are low on some of our food like cereal, beans and rice, regular size jar of peanut butter and jelly, cans of tuna, chili, various beans, carrots, mixed vegetables, packs of gravy mixes, jello and cake mix and icing. We are also able to help parishioners who call us qualifying for financial help with medical bills, rent and utilities. If you are in need of help, please call 831-7692 and leave a message. It is our privilege to serve those in need. ARCHBISHOP S LETTER 25th and 50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES Couples celebrating either their 25th, 50th or other special Wedding Anniversaries this year should contact the rectory at 837-8214 to register for the Mass on Saturday, October 13, at 4:00 p.m. Reception for the couples and their families in the Parish Center following the Mass.
