501 E Wallace Ave, Coeur d Alene, Id 83815 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5 These three verses give pretty simple instructions for how to live our lives, and when we sit down on Thursday for Thanksgiving dinner, most of us probably very easily could give thanks for what we had that day family, friends, good meal, a warm place. But what about the week before if you were out of power for an extended time, did you give thanks? Surely we gave thanks when the power came back on but maybe what events like the terrific windstorm do for us is make us truly appreciate the little things and to rejoice always. My power was out for a little under four days 93 hours to be exact yes, I was counting. Thanks #1 I had heat from a gas fireplace. I still had a roof over my head no trees had fallen on my house. When the power did come back, I rejoiced to have water and to take a hot shower. One of the sweetest things was to hear the flush of the toilet rejoice in the simple things! There are so many things in our lives to give thanks without ceasing to God. It is not that we aren t thankful, it is just often easy to forget or overlook all our blessings. In the hectic craziness that is often our lives, we forget each day that it is just rejoice, pray and give thanks. Andrea Paroni 208.664.5533 www.stlukescda.org
