Baby Shower in Springvale to Help Vacation Bible School July 25-28 St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish (Holy Family Church in Sanford and Notre Dame Church in Springvale) is planning a special baby shower to assist mothers and babies in need nearly two thousand miles away. The baby shower will be held at the Springvale Knights of Columbus Hall on Bridge Street on Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will be collecting a variety of items for anyone able to donate, including: t-shirts (newborn to size 2, new or gently used) shorts (newborn to size 2, new or gently used) cloth diapers summer hats receiving blankets baby nail clippers diaper ointment pacifiers and teething rings shirts and pants for young boys dresses for young girls women s underwear, shower caps, sample size shampoo, soap and lotions for moms Parishioners will also be sewing cloths, hats, and carry bags; knitting blankets and washcloths; and assembling birthing kits. All of the items donated will be sent to St. Thérèse of Lisieux s sister parish, St. Anthony the Hermit Parish in Lori, Haiti, which has suffered severe hurricane damage. The parish is located in a remote area on the south peninsula of Haiti and serves 23,000 people with one church, one school, six chapels, one clinic, and one priest. In recent years, St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish has donated funds to cover the wages of the school s six teachers and allow for the repair of an access road that enables healthcare workers to provide services as well as offering financial assistance for the completion of other projects. Shannon Fossett, a canonist in the Diocese of Portland s Office of the Tribunal, will lead a discussion on the annulment process on Thursday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. The special gathering will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church, located on 271 Main Street in Saco. The talk will cover the annulment process in place in the diocese, particularly the changes implemented by Pope Francis in 2015.
