The entire assembly will read the Gospel together. Prayer for healing and anointing with oil is offered in the narthex during Holy Communion. Any worshipper wishing to receive these gifts may proceed there after receiving the host and the cup, and before returning to the pew. Blessed Is He Knut Nystedt *INVOCATION *PROCESSIONAL HYMN All Glory, Laud and Honor ELW #344 *PALM/PASSION LITURGY CHOIR: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. CONGREGATION: And also with you. CHOIR: This is Palm Sunday the day we remember Jesus entry into Jerusalem. 2

CONGREGATION: This is also Passion Sunday the day we recall that his socalled triumph was short-lived. CHOIR: On Palm Sunday crowds cheered him and waved palm branches. CONGREGATION: Before the week was over, many of the same people had rejected him, or simply gone back to what for them was normal. CHOIR: Hosanna to the Son of David. Blessed is He who comes as King in the Name of the Lord. So they called out on Sunday. CONGREGATION: Crucify him! We have no king but Caesar! was their chant on Friday; and if you are the Son of God, come down from your cross. CHOIR: When he dismounted on Sunday, he went to the Temple. CONGREGATION: When they were done torturing him on Friday, he was nailed to his cross. ALL: It was for us and for our salvation that he went to Jerusalem. *CONFESSION OF SIN Ah, Holy Jesus ELW #349 PASTOR: It is true that we are all guilty of betraying and rejecting our Lord Jesus Christ and the life he gives us and calls us to live. But this has not and will not stop him from loving us as his own. His love for us is what he died to prove. For that reason, as a minister of the church of Christ and by his authority, I declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins; in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. *PRAYER OF THE DAY O God of mercy and might, in the mystery of the passion of your Son you offer your infinite life to the world. Gather us around the cross of Christ, and preserve us until the resurrection, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. FIRST LESSON Isaiah 50:4-9a O.T. p. 681 3

PSALM 31:9-16 Cantor sings the verses not in bold (Odd numbered verses.) Congregation sings the bold verses (Even numbered verses.) 9 Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am in trouble; my eye is consumed with sorrow, and also my throat and my belly. 10 For my life is wasted with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails me because of affliction, and my bones are consumed. 11 I am the scorn of my enemies, a disgrace to my neighbors, a dismay to my acquaintances; when they see me in the street they avoid me. 12 Like the dead I am forgotten, out of mind; I am as useless as a broken pot. 13 For I have heard the whispering of the crowd; fear is all around; they put their heads together against me; they plot to take my life. 14 But as for me, I have trusted in you, O LORD. I have said, "You are my God. 15 My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me. 16 Let your face shine up- on your servant; save me in your steadfast love." To Our Guests and Visitors Today: Every baptized believer who is of age is invited to receive the Lord s Supper as we worship. The invitation is extended to each of us by the Lord himself, because he is the host of the meal. We also believe that he is the meal; that is that in, with, and under the bread and wine we do receive the body and blood of Christ, given and shed for us for the forgiveness of sins. Please follow the directions of the ushers if you wish to commune. Children under the age of ten are invited to receive a Word of blessing. Worshipers unable to commune at the front of the church Please register with an usher and a lay minister will bring the Supper to you in your pew. Others prefer to pray different prayers some don t pray at all. A different prayer will be included each month to help us all in this daily devotion. Table Prayer God of all good gifts, bless this food, which fills up our empty stomachs. Bless our table talk which brings us closer to one another. Bless the events of the day good, bad, happy or sad. Bless this together time, which helps us grow in love. Amen. Be a good steward of the earth; if you aren t taking your bulletin home, please drop it in the recycling bin in the narthex. Thank you! 8
