November 2018 Highlights OUR MISSION: To be a community that walks with Jesus and shows His love to others OUR VISION: To make Disciples of Jesus Christ November Dates to Remember Men s Ministry Women s Ministry Looking For Answers ABF Life Groups Looking for the latest information? Be sure to check our website. harvestefree.org Many folks have stated they have enjoyed the transition to one Sunday morning worship service. Folks have noted the fuller services, the ability to see everyone worship together among other positive things. To be fair to our fantastic nursery volunteers, we want to note that the service time which begins at 10am, will probably end closer to 11:15am each Sunday. This gives a little flexibility to add a testimony or video or additional worship elements from time to time. We are excited to see God changing lives, releasing folks from decades of bondage into freedom through Christ. We continue to see God answer prayer by raising up disciple-making-disciples who are taking on the character and priorities of Jesus and helping others do the same. As God s people, we are a people of prayer and ask for each of us to pray daily for the families and leadership in our church, our community, our state and in our nation. The evil one trembles when God s people pray. So keep praying church! Let revival begin in this community starting with us, letting the Holy Spirit guide us as we humble and submit our will to His. To Him be the glory! ~ Pastor Steve If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS NOV. 4TH Don t forget to set your clocks back Saturday evening, Nov. 3rd. HYMN SING NOV. 4TH Your family is invited to join us Nov. 4th at 11:15am for a time of traditional praise and worship as we sing hymns and celebrate the beautiful heritage God has given us. Hymn books will be available and you will even be given the opportunity to request your favorite hymn! Come prepared to sing parts, or just sit back and enjoy a refreshing time with the Lord and His people. MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR SATURDAY NOV 10TH Mark your calendars to join a fun time at the Harvest Fall Party on Saturday, November 10th from 7-8:30 p.m. The party will feature interactive games and opportunities to connect with others in a fun setting. One of the highlighted games will be Quiplash, which we play together using our smartphones. You and your family members can come with costumes or masks if you desire. (This is optional.) There will be prizes for unique or fancy costumes and for game winners. There will be nursery care for children under 36 months. We are asking families to bring snacks to share with others. LIKE ARROWS MOVIE NOV. 11TH Adults, please join us Nov. 11th at 3:30 pm for a showing of the movie, Like Arrows. When conflict, rebellion, and resentment overwhelm their family, Charlie and Alice are forced to rethink their parenting strategy. In the process, they realize how critical intentionality and focus are when shaping and molding young lives. FamilyLife s first feature film explores the challenges and joys that come with raising children. Through a journey that unfolds over 50 years, Charlie and Alice discover the unmistakable power of family. Together, they learn that knowing and living by God s Word is what brings transformation and hope to any family. Visit http://familylifeministries.org/likearrows/ to view the movie trailer. Please contact the office if you have any questions and let us know if are in need of childcare for this event. COFFEE WITH THE ELDERS NOV. 11TH Grab a coffee and join us, Nov. 11th after the service, for an informal opportunity for you to ask questions about Harvest.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD This year we have made available shoeboxes that you can fill with toys, school supplies and hygiene products, to be sent around the world to children in need. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan s Purse, an international relief organization. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. If you have more questions about Operation Christmas Child or Samaritan s Purse you can go to https://goo.gl/ehhmjv to find out more. Boxes need to be returned to he church by November 11th so we can take them to the drop off location. LOOKING FOR ANSWERS Think of the last time you found yourself in a conversation with others where a question about a detail arose and no one knew the answer. Someone may have turned to Google on their smart phone and quickly found the answer. To some degree, all of us are looking for answers to the questions of life. When should I hang the Christmas decorations? Is my aging car worth fixing again? Is this pain worth a trip to the doctor? Have I studied enough to pass the test? What should we have for supper? Some answers to questions have little impact in our lives. (You don t have to know who invented the zipper to appreciate the invention.) Other answers are more substantive. (Knowing how to balance a checkbook or send an email are important skills in today s world.) Christ-followers can forget that the Spirit is always prompting questions in the minds of those who are not yet in the kingdom. What happens after death? How can people find hope beyond their circumstances? What is my purpose in life? Where can I find courage in difficult times? Can anyone experience joy or hope that lasts? How can I live at peace with my past and its troubles? People you know seldom rush up to you with profound questions. But that doesn t mean they are not thinking about them. The Holy Spirit has a marvelous way of provoking curiosity, drawing our thoughts to the big issues of life, and creating moments of openness and searching. Each of you have people in your sphere of influence who at any moment are looking for answers. But they won t easily ask anyone. It requires someone they have a relationship with who they respect someone who can listen, who is thoughtful, who is caring, who can be affirming. The question might come out hidden in a remark in a conversation about something apparently unrelated. Or it might pop up as an observation about the world in general. Or it might appear as a worry or concern or frustration. Would you ask the Spirit to help you see those moments when others around you are seeking answers that you know are found in Jesus? Would you dare to believe that Jesus is putting you next to some quiet seekers he wants to touch through you? Remember that you, too, were once in that place. Jesus wants to use you to help others begin that journey toward the liberation, grace, and purpose available for disciples of Christ! ~Pastor Jim ADULT LEARNING 9-9:45 a.m. SUNDAY MORNINGS Our desire is to equip you as you connect God s truth with the realities of life.
